New And Improved PICTURE THREAD!

Spent the weekend in Orlando visiting my younger sister. My first time in Florida, and I took tons of pictures. We went to Epcot for the food and wine festival on Saturday, and fishing on Sunday. When I left Toronto on Friday morning it was 50 degrees F. When I arrived in Orlando it was 94 F. When I got back to Toronto today it was 36 F. I'm having temperature shock.

Here are a few of my photos:

I know what you mean. Thursday it was about 65F, I think - I probably left a little earlier than you did on Friday, so I don't think it was up to 50 yet. However, when I got to Minneapolis there was a definite chill in the air, and it snowed there Saturday morning and this morning. (I missed Saturday's, and it had all melted by the time I went out, but this morning I was up at 4 to go to the airport, and it was snowing quite hard.) It wasn't exactly warm when I got back this afternoon, but I was able to put my winter coat back into my suitcase and wear my leather jacket.

Here's the one picture I've seen so far of myself at Gaylaxicon. (For those who haven't paid attention to my past posts in the photo threads, I'm the one on the left - the guy on the right is a friend of mine from Washington, DC. His partner lives in Johannesburg, South Africa - and I thought my relationship was long-distance!)

My smile is a bit odd because I didn't see the photographer until it was almost too late. I think I snuck into a few more photos this weekend, but I haven't seen them posted yet.

Yeah the GT40 is just amazing, and I've always loved the Cobra. It's absolutely crazy how short the GT40 is. Just for reference, the thing parked next to it is a Maserati Quattroporte. The height difference is about 40cm (16 inches).
Yeah I know, it's insanely low! I'd never be able to use that with my back.

Yeah, I really can't imagine myself fitting into the GT40. I'm just too tall.

^^^ Awww, that's adorable!!! And he's so big!

Our boys just had their annual check up, and Kodi - our Chocolate - is 85 lbs! That's 20 lbs bigger than our last lab, and 15 heavier than his brother.

We have GOT to arrange a play date! I'll bet they'd have a ball!

And you've reminded me that I need to post some more recent pictures.

I hope you all had a wonderful time. Yesterday was just the perfect New England Fall day, wasn't it?

Well ..., that is except where our home sports teams are concerned .... :klingon:

Rupert is probably 103-104 at this point. We thinned him out after he suddenly gained a bit of weight (changing metabolism I guess) but he is still actually gaining weight as the vet thinks he still filling out.

I can't walk him for 10 minutes without someone commenting how enormous he is, and asking me what he's crossed with, even though he's totally Lab.

I think a play date would be great. Any excuse to tire out a crazy dog is a welcome one.

So you were one of those "other" masses there! I was in Disney World all last week with my family (haven't got any pictures uploaded yet). The heat didn't bother me so much, but the humidity was unreal. My wife lived in Tampa for several years, and according to her, it was very unseasonably hot for October, even for Orlando.

the '40' refers to how many inches tall it is
the newer Ford GT is several inches taller, but it still boggles my mind that Jeremy Clarkson can fit in it :D

and a bit of trivia: John Mayer owns one in Gulf Oil colors

It's the internet! How "overtly sexual" could you get? :p

You must be new to the internet. Welcome.

Not sure what you think "overtly sexual" means, but it doesn't require actual physical contact. I thought my meaning was pretty clear in context, since I cited examples of comments that could be problematic (and have been in the past).

Besides if someone got offended all they have to do is either air their grievance or ignore it.
New to TrekBBS as well, I see.

Trust me that this is an issue that has been discussed both behind the scenes amongst the mods after receiving complaints and on the board at large numerous times before you joined a month ago.

If you have any further disagreement, I'd be happy to discuss it with you in a PM.

My sister has lived in Orlando for ten years now, and she said the same thing. The fact that it was hot was one thing, but the extreme humidity was crazy.

When I got off the plane in Orlando wearing a hoodie...jesus! I thought, What kind of infernal place IS this?

First off, please don't attempt to patronise me. It's quite an ugly quality in a person. And no I am not "new to the internet" if that was your attempt at sarcasm then major fail on your part. I am extremely clear on what "overtly sexual" means, having been on the receiving end of it on several ocassions.

New to TrekBBS, why yes! You got something right! Well done you! Have a pat on the back. Whether Im new here or not really is not the point and I don't doubt for a moment that it is an ongoing problem. I was light heartedly pointing out that you can either choose to ignore it or do something about it. At the end of the day (horrible expression I do apologise) it's only a bunch of words on a screen, that you can choose to switch off.

I wasn't directly disagreeing with you, more a tiny hint of an opinion. I most certainly don't want to discuss this via PM. I reserve those for people that I actually like and would enjoy a conversation with. Just incase your so incredibly dense that my good sir is not you.

Unfortunately the "every individual can either ignore or complain about posts they don't like" approach doesn't help with the fact that too many of these creepyville responses creates an atmosphere within Misc that's unfriendly to a lot of people. People who were choosing to ignore it, to the point of no longer posting in Misc. The powers that be decided that driving away posters was not what they wanted in Misc, so there is an attempt now to remove the Creep-factor from replies. It may seem to be an over-reaction, but it's necessary to freshen the air round here :)

Extremely valid point and put in a much nicer and friendlier way ;). It is sad that these things occur and even more pathetic of the people that make others feel so uncomfortable. Anyhoo this is a picture thread so I really should post one :p

Ooh, nice hair colour - I love it! My sister used to have that shade of bright red. But then she got a job with the government and has to have "proper" hair.
