I swiped these from my brother's facebook page - sometimes I'm very jealous that he gets to go to school in Colorado.

Those are gorgeous pictures!!!

I love how the rest of the country has gotten so much more snow then here in upstate NY. I think the total amount here from winter so far wouldn't add up to half a foot.

I hate you. ;)

Yeah but then you gotta live in the South. ;)

Some of us LIKE living in the South. The climate is nice (usually), the people friendly and we are just packed full of culture and heritage. And despite some folks might think, most things here have nothing to do with the Civil War, slavery or marrying your cousin. :vulcan:

And Squiggy, that fluffy wet snow that catches on everything like that makes the most beautiful snow photography. Now if you catch the light near sunrise or sunset (like it almost is in the last picture), it glows in the most spectacular way and includes these hot highlights and rich deep blue shadows.

I'll keep that in mind this weekend, as it snows two fucking feet.

And this is what happens at the supermarket when said forecast in made:

People freak the fuck out. Every aisle was like this. I waited 90 minutes to check out.

2 feet? That's it? Here in Buffalo that just means you need to get up a bit earlier to shovel more snow.

Snow is only really bad when there's high winds to blow it around...and even then schools won't close. It needs to be a least -15 windchill before they consider closing due to cold as well.

^ My goodness, DC-ers just aren't equipped to handle snow, are they?

No one is anywhere. I see that kind of nonsense all of the time when they call for a couple inches of snow here. People act like they'll be trapped in their homes for days and unable to get out and they must have their cocoa-puffs!

I hate that reaction. It's worse than Christmas... which is just as annoying. I spent far too much time throughout December waiting to be served. I should really start shouting at people...

I always get blown away by how many people flock to the stores to buy a snow shovel. What happened to the one they bought for the previous storm???

Hey, I was part of that reaction...but I was just there to get some basics to last me a few days (since I don't ever have much here on standby). There were people there getting stuff to feed a family of 10 for 2 weeks. Like the snow would destroy all supermarkets.

Same here in Oklahoma. This last time nasty weather was forecast my local organic food store staff told me everyone was buy eggs like mad. They figured there was going to be a giant omlette cook-off.

I went off-roading with my bro and a couple of friends today. The weather was pretty shitty, but I still got a few decent pics.

Yes, we got stuck and had to use the winch on countless occasions. ;)

just as long as it's shouting and not shooting.
