New American Pie Plot Revealed

^ Agreed, really that is the only important thing that happens in "Wedding" is the actual wedding. Hmmm...it would seem that not just the DTV's were ignored then. That's kind of disappointing but not unexpected.

I went to see it this evenin', and was fairly amused. Plenty of immature, stupid jokes, some boobs, Jason Biggs bein' embarrassed, a Shannon Elizabeth appearance, and Eugene Levy was funny as hell!

I'd be okay if this ends the AP franchise, too.

I don't think Wedding was ignored just elements of it were either changed or forgotten.

(I may also be forgetting the in-universe explanation for Oz's absence in "Wedding." I think I recall Jim getting off the phone with him and mentioning that they were on a honeymoon.)

Pretty much how I feel about it. Solid but not amazing. The crowd in the theatre was into it, but there were definitely stretches where people were just chuckling rather than really laughing.

It's not out here til the beginning of May but from the reactions in here I'll probably go see it, and watch the first few films again beforehand.

^ I won't be seeing American Reunion right away either, not for a few days, so this'll give me a chance to watch the first three movies again. I haven't seen any of them since their initial release.

What, no American Retirement? :p

I saw Reunion yesterday. Some things didn't work (Stifler's act is most tiresome at this point and so on) and the film was WAY too long. But I thought it was pretty funny. It was cool seeing the gang back together (the entire gang) and Eugene Levy got a lot to do.

Wedding wasn't ignored. Hell, you even had Oz acknowledge that he missed Jim's wedding.

I saw the first two movies last night and I'm revising my opinion on both.

- The first movie was pretty tame and unfunny by today's standards. Not as good as I remember.

- The second movie was better. It was funnier, raunchier, had hotter girls (the lesbians) and had better hook-ups at the end (way to go Sherman & Nadia).

- I didn't remember the Book of Love.
Little did anyone know that 10 years later, we'd find out that it was Jim's dad that started it.
- Hannigan's character Michelle seems like she has asperger's. Hadn't thought of that before. I like her intense and unabashed sexuality though.

- Jim and Michelle's relationship only started to bud in the second movie. She was hardly in the first one and things ended with a brief hook-up. My memory was foggy on that. Nice to see that kind of progression with these characters over two movies.

Still gotta see the third one before Reunion.

All I can say is if you grew up watching the american pie movies I think you will love the new one. I watched it last night and I nostalgia'd like 20 times. :techman:

I guess then they just decided to not follow up on Steven's progress from the end of "Wedding". Unless of course it was a conscience decision to have him feel out of place while all his friends have grown up and moved on and kind of wanted to feel that nostalgia himself. I know people and friends who have a hard time moving on from the past and can't quite let it go.

I didn't get to see it this weekend. Back has been really bad lately. Hopefully will see it during the week or next weekend. It had a decent weekend, finishing second to "The Hunger Games". "American Reunion" pulled in just under 22 million dollars. I'm sure this is a little disappointing. "Titanic 3D" finished in third place. I don't see this making a whole lot of money to be honest given it has a small window before some of the expected blockbusters start to come out now.

I like the first one, its more funny, more original and great script. Most of the sex comedies have copied the teenage concept from first one!! Its like pioneer :)

Finally saw Amereican Wedding again. Not as funny as I remember and Stifler was way over the top, but it was nice to see how the characters progressed. Michelle's oddball demeanor was toned down and January Jones was there. Didn't know she was in the movie becasue I didn't know who she was in 2003. Plus, I wonder how Chris Klein felt about being left out.

Now I can see American Reunion without feeling a bit lost due to not remembering stuff.

They wanted Chris Klein and Mena Suvari in the "Wedding" but a combination of scheduling conflicts and just not having room to work a story in precluded it.

Finally saw it and had a great time. It was nice to see the old gang back. Having seen the first three in the last few days, I'd say that this one is about on par with the rest.

- Pretty much everyone looks the same 13 years on.

- Good that they toned Stifler down after American Wedding.

- Shiri Appleby looked great as Kara. :p

- It was fun seeing Jim's dad with Stifler's mom, but it was a shame they had to kill off Jim's mom. I saw that she was credited as being in the movie, but thought it was a mistake until I saw that she made a cameo in a home movie. I wonder if they could go back and make a movie called American Funeral. Would that work as a comedy?

- I wonder why they broke up the friendship of Sherman and John Cho's chatacter without really following up on what happend.

-
When I saw Jim passed out drunk on the kitchen floor, I somehow knew that he'd be without his pants.
American Reunion starts off with the characters getting ready for their 13th (?!) high-school reunion...
It was their 10 year reunion, but it was held a few years late. And to Jim's surprise, a lot of people were going anyway.

Kevin also lives in LA and seems to be 00's sort of man as he's a caring, sensitive, house-husband to his working wife.
Metrosexual. That fad didn't last long did it?

However the movie misses a certain "spark" to make it like the other movies most notably in the mid-movie antics scene (the Internet video in the first movie, the encounter with the "lesbians" in the second and Jim's bachelor party in the third) just "lacks" the frenzied chaos and pay-off the others had. (Mostly the first movie's scene.)
I thought all the antics and frenzied chaos was about the same.

Having a bunch of 30-something guys trying to sneak a naked 17-year old into her bed without her parents seeing was edge-of-your-seat funny.
There's also another continuity oddity, or something that was forgotten and never explained:

At the end of American Wedding it's suggest Stifler has -somewhat- matured to, at least, appeal to Michelle's sister and it seems a relatioship between the two was established. In this movie no mention is made of what happened with Michelle's sister and, of course, Steven is back to his old ways.
It's not a continuity glitch. They just had a falling out offscreen. It might have been nice to have January Jones back, but not seeing her wasn't a big deal. I was also thinking that she'd look like the older sister since she's matured more than Hannigan has.

I don't think Wedding was ignored just elements of it were either changed or forgotten.

If that happened, I didn't catch it.

I don't remember anything being ignored or contradicted. The only thing I caught was that The Book of Love would have to be set later than 2009 since Jim's dad said he had a grandson in that movie, yet in Reunion, the kid is only about 2.

I'd be okay if this ends the AP franchise, too.

The franchise will get a gritty reboot before the cast gets old enough for that sequel!

:p
Looked like they set things up for future installments, and personally, I'm all for it.

The guys look about the same, the girls who are 5 years older on average have hit that point in life where aside from Willow they don't. And in her case she has been working steadily in the interim so the changes are less jarring.

I think Allison (who's knocking on 40's door) mostly "shows it" it's a bit tougher to buy her as being in the same age-range as everyone else (Heather and Jim, of course, belonging to the same graduating class.) That's not at all to say Hannigan looks bad she's still as adorable and great as ever it's just that, well, she's starting to look her age.

I saw it tonight, and I loved it. I think what worked for me the most (along with that extended topless scene of Kara :D) was all the 90s tunes put onto the soundtrack. And the thing is they just weren't tacked on to evoke nostalgia, they worked within the context of the movie. When Jim and Michelle were dancing to Verve Pipe's The Freshman, I had tears, it was just a beautiful moment.

Yeah, the music brought me back as well. When they started playing Sway during the dance it was like I was back in school again

Honestly, I can't believe how nostalgic this movie made me feel. It feels like it was just yesterday when I snuck into the first film cause I was under 18
