New Alone in the Dark game

Don't think I'm the only one looking forward to the game, been watching the videos of the game for a while and saw the review on Playr (Bravo's video game show) and looks really good. Best of all, nothing to do with Boll's utter crap film

Out this Friday in the UK

Oh, I'm in big time for this one.
Been watching (and waiting) for this one for over a year.

I actually did something I never do and pre-ordered from GameStop.
They had a pretty good deal going.

First, they are selling the game for $10.00 cheaper than everyone else (weird for GameStop)

And second they are giving a free t-shirt and music CD as well.

I found that too difficult to pass up on.

Looking at Cheap ass gamer, it looks like Circuit City will be giving a $10.00 gift card in next weekends sale.

Also picking up the special edition of Battlefield: Bad Company

I've got it pre-ordered from Amazon for £32.99, I don't know what the difference is but they have the limited edition for £34.98.

Hopefully, the game play will be as innovative as it looks on the videos.

Alan Wake due out for Q4 of 2008...

Am looking forward to Aliens Colonial Marines on 360 myself because of the 4 way CO-OP but that could be Q4 of 2008 or Q1 of 2009.

Alan Wake actually got bumped again into sometime in 2009.
I have too much excitement for other games to use it up on that one...for now. :)

The new aliens game does sound cool, it's listed as October 2008.
Dead space also looks cool.

Here is a list of IGN's Xbox 360 release dates.

Please add 2-3 months extra for the PS3 version LOL J/K
Sorry couldn't help myself.

I like the fact that the fire physics are not scripted, (watch some of the tech demo videos) Survival horror games are few and far between now a days which is a bitch as its one of fav game genres (condemned 2 is not really S.H)

Also the developers really wanted to make the game and are quite passionate about talking about it

I'm actually looking forward to this game as well. It will be my first time with this franchise, but the game is looking pretty good and it seems like the developers are going to do interesting things with the genre

Looking forward to this and I hope it's as good as the concept and tech demos look. I won't be picking it up till the fall though since it doesn't come out on PS3 till then.

It won't make that date anymore according to the head guy of the project due to some issues in the engine like framerate problems but we will get to see something at E3 and am hoping it will make December and not the January rumored date.

Ahhh..I see.

Lets hope.

gets 7/10 on eurogamer, saying some annoying controls

small snippet of the review
For all its good qualities though, Alone in the Dark is a frustrating game to play. Having done so well to avoid the tried-and-trusted genre tropes of idols, badges and keys scattered around zombie-infested buildings that have to be transported past endless set-piece encounters to achieve things, Eden messes it up with a hopeless control system that proves just as pointlessly convoluted. It doesn't just grab defeat from the jaws of victory, it has to press a dozen buttons in a complex sequence across a number of different screens and view perspectives to do so.

but I'm still getting it

I saw the Playr review too. The strange, but somewhat original, DVD-style chapters which allow you to play the game in any sequence you want, skip the parts you find too hard, replay the bits you enjoy etc is an interesting idea.

When you load the game from a save it apparently gives you a "Previously On..." segment to remind you of the storyline, like an episodic TV show.

AND! a preview of the next Chapter.

Sounds like a cool idea.

So, anyone else get it yet? I got mine yesterday... So far, I think it's pretty good, there are one or two things I find annoying, like the semi-fixed camera, and the control scheme, they don't ruin the game, but they do bug you at times.
The game is very cinematic, which I think is sometimes detrimental to the game play, such as the camera zooming out slightly to give you a wide view of the exciting chase can throw off your control a little.
I think 7/10 is a fair review, going off what I've played so far.

got on Friday, the controls don't ruin the game but can be clunky at times, usually at the wrong time. I like the inventory DIY weapons, fire bullets are quite handy on the infected.

Its a shame the developers didn't have the time to tidy up the controls as Atari wanted on the shelves now (also Atari are making their own bad press)

I'm just curious about the "chapter skip" option. It sounds like a neat idea, even though the game might not be all that.
