New Alias?!?

So the one element I'd look forward to seeing done right in a JJ-remake of Alias.... The Rambaldi plot line (especially one that made sense and was plotted out in advance) is not going to be included?

Wha?

Let's just hope that if this is true they do not just abandon the central premise after a season and a half like they did last time. It became much less interesting after that.

The show was at its best when it was about Sloane giving Sydney and Dixon a mission and then Vaughn finding a way to have Syd corrupt that mission while still making it look like it was a success.

^I actually liked the fact they had the balls to just change their main story and not drag it out for years and years.

My wife and I are watching all 5 seasons for the first time. We are to season 4 right now and while the characters themselves are still great (Marshall is so fun to watch stumble over himself), the spirit of the show didn't seem to carry over from the first 3 seasons. The first season and a half was by far the best.

I'm not sure of a reboot though. Or a spinoff. I need to see all 5 seasons to decide. But it does seem WAY too early to do a reboot. And the fact that it's J.J. rebooting his own show makes it really weird. Is ABC really that desperate?

Alias re-make in development?

I agree. Very dependable episodes in the spy/heist/action genres.

I've seen the first 3 seasons and own them on DVD. Only in the last 5 months did I get season 3 at a good used price.
I've read on this forum that season 4 was bad but season 5 brought things around again and was fairly good. Not sure if I want to invest the time for season 4 to then watch season 5...

see this thread started a week ago about this same topic but in the SciFi/Fantasy forum.
ABC to bring back the early 2000's

I hope its more of a rebooting the premise than the characters. If they were to do a new Alias with new characters while not erasing the previous show, I'd be fine with that.

Then again it is JJ, so he'll probably have Sloane find his way out of the tomb, and then find another artifact that will allow him to create a new timeline without his disastrous quest for Rimbaldi.

Although I really like Alias, I like the idea of a reboot that doesn't include the Rambaldi mythology. Alias can still be great without the sci-fi angle.

Same here. I think just having the agencies used in "Alias" be the central ones there and maybe some "homages" here and there would do the trick. It'd be similar to the "Mission Impossible" series they did after the original. Connected but with (mostly) new characters.

Maybe they want go back to the original concept: grad student by day, sexy superspy by night. Which probably means a reboot.

Works for me--as long as I get to write some more ALIAS books. I still have some plots I never got around to the first time! :)

Leave it alone.... :scream:
I agree with you 100 percent:klingon:
What the hell are they thinking:rolleyes:??
Theres absolutyl no need for an reboot...cant they invent somethin new:confused:
I wonder what JJ. Abrams thinks of all this?
Alias was a very good series:cool: Im a huge fan:techman:

The ONLY thing I can think would be viable is to continue the adventures of the agency with a whole new set of characters.

I still think Alias is a viable property to make the jump to the big screen. J.J. is big in Hollywood these days, Jennifer Garner is a movie star now, and the show took the characters to far-flung and exotic locales, featured spies, double-agents, nasty villains, outrageous stunts and complex relationships. I'd love to see Garner take the show to the big screen as a kick-ass Bourne-like franchise.

This I would sooner watch than a reboot of a series that was excellent on it's own and only went off the air 3 or 4 years ago.

I watched the trailer for the Undercovers.
It is not striking my fancy at all and Alias is like one of my all time top favorite TV shows.

This just looks like the adventures of Charlie and Francie to me.
I don't know. If it comes on Hulu, I will give the pilot episode a shot. But I am not expecting it to get anywhere near to the awesomeness of Alias, though.
