Honestly it looks like a generic Sci-Fi cover to me.

And yet it is a pretty good representation of an actual moment from the story.

I also like how, while not exactly the same, there are motifs that are consistent with the previous two covers.

It's a nice cover, but I do agree that there isn't really anything about that screams Star Trek.

Well, it's more "Trek-y" than most of the previous DTI covers.

I was referring specifically to the ship.

Well, there are only two spacecraft in this novella, neither of which is of Starfleet or any familiar design.

It is one of Shutterstock's, um... stock "futuristic spaceship" images.

I guess it works as a space shuttle /shuttlecraft /runabout type ship in the context of the story.

EDIT: Shutterstock's "futuristic spaceship" kinda reminds me of the Starmax Bomber from StarCom: The U.S. Space Force ! Not identical but kinda similar.

Is there any truth to a rumour Una McCormack is to write a Waypoint comic?

I'm kind of surprised they'd just go with a generic stock ship like that, rather than something that at least came from one of the Trek shows or movies. Even if it wasn't supposed to be exactly that ship, you'd think they still could have found something that would have worked.

Aside from the giant gold logo saying STAR TREK . . . :)

As I said, the ship in the scene portrayed there is not of any design ever encountered before in the Federation (at least as of the 24th century). Using a familiar Trek ship would be misrepresenting the story.

And how is it any more incongruous than the antique clock faces on the covers of Watching the Clock, Forgotten History, and The Collectors? Or the abstract blue shapes of Time Lock?

At least it's not an A-Wing submarine.

Two of my favorite covers don't scream "Star Trek!" at all.

Well, it is the cover of an eBook and not a published book so I guess they figured any kind of generic spaceship will do. And it is a lovely looking little ship.

Why? On what Star Trek cover did they use an A-wing and/or a submarine?
