Never seen TOS scenes...round 3

Okay, this isn't revolutionary. BUT it is my first screencap as done by me. :D
Why do I think we just passed from the silver age of creative Star Trek scenes into the golden age?

Warped9, I think you should take two weeks of vacation from work starting right now. :D
Considering that I'm actively looking for other employment from my present job that doesn't sound bad. Indeed if I can swing it whenever I do find another job I'd like to take a week off between the old one and the new as I haven't taken any vacation time yet this year. My reasoning being that when I leave the accumulated vacation pay may come in handy. Presently I'm sitting at 130 hours and counting.

Nothing earth shattering, but I just wanted to see what Kirk might've looked like if they'd kept the 1st season alternate command tunic.

Back on track. I scanned this out of the 1st edition of the Pocket books Chronology. I've always liked this concept so much more than the silly thing they used in FC.

Cochrane's space warp prototype, coloured and set against the Alpha Centauri system in the background...

Interesting concept, though that ship doesn't look like it could manuever worth a damn in combat.

Then again, what the hell am I saying? Did any Star Trek ship look like it could passably manuever in Space?

^^ Well, the design isn't mine but rather a colourized scan of an image out the 1st edition of the Pocket Books ST Chronology. I should note that James Blish's adaptation of BoT made a brief reference to early Romulan ships as "crazy little cylindrical ships." Perhaps this could be considered a nod o that concept, but it's simply too simplistic in overall configuration.

wowowow. great stuff. :) I liked the TOS Kirk and Spock on the refit bridge, and the shot with Kirk, Spock, and Bones in the new Khan uniforms. Here's something I've never seen yet- shield flares! TOS, TAS or Star Trek Starfleet Command. Suggestion- STSC, the shield color is the color of the weapon beam. Also, TOS crew in Star Trek First Contact uniforms with: command- yellow, life science- blue, medical science- green, helm- white, security- orange, engineering- red, first officer- purple; no neck cleft (DS9 season 1), keep TOS chest insignia and add TNG neck pips. Third, what about a phase II shuttlecraft (combining Generations' with TOS)? Lastly, TMP Klingons- Kor, Kang, and Koloth. Drool. Thanks for reading. Byebye

I've never been a big Excelsior fan. Part of the problem is that I've always thought it too long.

Here's a shortened version in support hull and nacelle lengths...

Hmm. I think I'm gonna play with this some more. Perhaps raising or lowering the nacelles and perhaps adding certain bits from the E-B version.

As much as I love Excelsior, I'm interested to see where this goes. I recommend shortening the neck a bit and thus lowering the saucer.

I've added selected bits and made the whole thing ever so slightly taller. Truth is I'm still not crazy about this design, but I think this is an improvement.

I really see the Excelsior design as fine for a testbed prototype, but severely lacking in a well integrated look as a production version.

As far as the Excelsior goes, I found it more plausible than the Galaxy- it looks far too clumsy in design with that over-sized saucer and neck.

As for your designs, and this is just nitpicky, the tail fins on the back of the nacelles could stand to be removed. Never did enjoy that part of the refit design myself.

Nothing new yet (although I have some new ideas percolating), but I just though it'd be nice to bump this thread up again for a revisit and for those who might never have seen it.

:)

We never saw any TOS episodes where they enter or visit a starbase that's in space, like those jellyfish shaped ones.

Or a Starfleet Armada engaged in battle but they only ever showed that one class of starship at the time.

I like the shorter version you did a whole lot beter!! I am not a fan of the Enterprise B add ons though!

^^^
Yea, to me the shorter version looks "real'. The longer one is too stylish. It's sooo hard to do the ass end of a starship. I think you've got the nacelles at a good distance behind the shuttle bay. And stretching the shuttle bay seems worse than the nacelles.

Of course, it's just me. :)

Wow. It's been awhile since I've done some of these. Presently I've been involved in writing a new Star Trek story set in the Pike era. And with that in mind I'd like to offer up a few new images that are scenes taken directly from my story.

Please note that the images of the E are a creation of Professor Moriarty while the photomanips are by me.

First up: in orbit over Starbase 3 Vega.

Encountering an unexplained anomaly. Is it a ship, a planet, artificial, a previously unknown natural phenomena or even a living entity?

Investigating an alien environment.

The Enterprise finds itself in an unexpected situation.

Cut off from the ship? "What the hell?"

wow! warped9 and spockboy these look awesome. however I can say im not a big fan of the redesigned wrath of khan uniforms, something makes them look gaudy. I do like TMP redesigns though. Nice food for thought on what could have been with your images, keep up the good work!
