Part of the trick with Photoshop is to be able to match skin tones and having the shadowing lining up in the same directions.

the scene where kirk salutes the romulan commander in balance of terror when the commander destroys his ship. I know they filmed it, but edited it out for "reasons." love to have seen it included in the episode. kirk showing respect.

Roddenberry asked that it be cut in his notes on the episode editing. He didn’t want Starfleet to be so military that they saluted and so forth.

The thing that throws me about these two images? The red impulse engines. They were always black on TOS.
