Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice...

Hmmm....so the Constellation was one of the older model Connies? I note the large deflector, tall bridge dome, black saucer-edge harddock points, etc....

And lets not forget the old style Impulse Engines as well, first seen in the second pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before" with the 9 holes running along the length of the aft end of it. Here is a picture of it.

On a lighter note. Christmas aboard the Enterprise...

Now I gotta wonder if thats an artificial tree or if Kirk sent out a landing party to scout for just the right one on some convenient alien world. I can just hear McCoy. "Dammit, Jim. If 'ts not a real tree then it just ain't Christmas!" Or McCoy badgering Spock. "Can you play Jingle Bell Rock on that thing? Oh, care to try my special recipe eggnog?" To Kirk, "This year I'm asking Santa if I can see a drunk Vulcan."

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the ship, not a creature was stirring, not even a tribble...

He must've got in through impulse vent #2 that someone absentmindedly left open. :D

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

I always wanted to see more destruction when the refit blew up in Trek III - the bridge and a bit of a corridor are not enough!

I've always envisioned engineering shaking and falling apart in flames, a forest fire in the botanical gardens with a view of the planet as the ship looses it's orbit outside, at the very least, the shuttle bay with lights flickering and debris tumbling from the ceiling.

T'was a bit spartan as it was.

On a side note, would this thread work with the next gen?

Steve

I always liked the old impulse engines better than the new, along with the black "hard dock points" on the port and starbaord saucer rims. Also, I liked the inside of the bridge a lot more on the Pike-era ship. Battleship grey and black look so much cooler than the gray-white and Christmas red.

If you mean would I do NextGen pics then the answer is "no" simply because the thread is "Never seen TOS scenes" and based on the idea that the later shows never happened. If you mean would the approach seen here work for TNG then I see no reason why not. Although I have no interest in doing so myself there's no reason someone else so inclined couldn't begin their own thread focusing on TNG pics.

Regarding NextGen pics the challenge is to discern where things would need to be tweaked. One could try to explore the era when Picard commanded the Stargazer. Also because TNG teended to try and explain everything and that it ran for seven seasons I don't feel it left much to the imagination, but thats just me. Someone could come along and speculate on things never seen and it could be interesting.

Encountering a presumed lost older sister ship...

BTW, thats a PL 1/1000 TOS E model in that shot for anyone who cares to know.

I've been toying with an idea for sometime now. Essentially I'd post a series of stills from a given episode with my manips/tweaks inserted in place of some of the original shots. It would mean the posted pics would be a bit smaller, but it would also convey a different impression thn just posting individual images.

Since I began this thread I've posted in excess of 200 images.

Nothing truly Earth shattering about this pic except that it's an exercise where I added windows to the unfinished side of the ship to make it look more complete.

Truth is I'm beginning to feel just a little spent on this. Don't be mistaken, I love doing it, but it's becoming evermore challenging to think of new things. The ship/space scenes are the easiest of course, but the most challenging and fun--and time consuming--are the character scenes. Thats why I'm not posting as frequently as before. Hopefully when I get set-up for my own dvd screencaps I'll be creatively recharged.

Ah, another story starter. OK, W9, what episode is this? Great shot BTW!

Oh, who's the captain on that rogue Excelsior? ;)

Re: Never seen TOS scenes...

^^ Well, in the novel Dreadnought I believe it was a rogue Starfleet Admiral who felt that a more agressive stance had to be taken to intimidate the Klingons, Romulans and whomever else the Federation was supposedly at odds with. Consequently this rogue admiral takes a hardline against anyone who stands in his way including other Federation ships.

Hmm. You might want to check out a new thread I started tentatively in this Arts forum.
