It's open to speculation because they just used an AMT model (unpainted no less!) with different decals and messed it up some rather than some suitably doctored shots of the E. I used the 2nd pilot version of the ship to show some visual diversity. And I've got one or two other pics in mind I want to add to that sequence.

Nice - I like it a lot. The only thing that ever bothered me about the Constellation was its registry number...I always thought it should have been NCC-1710. Guess there's no fault in following what's on screen though - but is there any possible "make-believe" explanation for why a ship of the same class would have such a lower number?

The two simplest explanations (taken together or separately) are that the ship is similar but not truly the same as the Constitution-class and is actually of a different older class, and/or the ship was simply built sometime before the Enterprise.
