And i envision Aprils Enterprise in place of the NX-01, but as i dont accept Enterprise, Aprils ship is in its place on the wall. The real predecessor to Pikes incarnation.

though I must admit that the insect shot would have been cheaper (maybe cheaper than mini-Balok) I think the fake-Balok was still impressive!

What i meant was that the current ship to have the name Enterprise is included as the 'First deep exploration space vessel' rather than the NX-01.
It didnt look quite the way i planned.

^^ The original Balok image is one of those few things that haven't aged well. It was just feasible in the '60s, but quickly aged. Sure a small child could be scared, but Star Trek was meant to be an adult series (remember they depicted the attempted rape of Yeoman Rand in "The Enemy Within"). And taken in that context the original Balok puppet isn't credible as far as the crew being shocked when they're no doubt already accustomed to many stranger things. But the real Balok had already scanned their systems and library records and so he just might have lit onto what just might disturb humans on an instinctive level.
Having said that such an image, while certainly within the means of '60s F/X, would likely never have gotten past the network censors. "God dammit, Roddenberry, WTF? Are you trying to give our viewers heart attacks?"

If I recall properly I got that BoP shot from a b&w pic in the Star Trek Sketchbook. I painted it in Photoshop then set it against a pic of a comet I got from the Astronomoy Picture of the Day website to recreate that sense of scene from "Balance Of Terror."

Perhaps it could be your monitor? I've noticed that not all monitors display things exactly the same. The TBBS site looks different at my work than at home for example--the colours look slightly paler at work. But on my home computer the BoP I've posted looks distinctly gray/green.
I believe you mentioned you were looking for a BoP pic. If you send me an email to my home email addy than I'd be happy to forward you a copy of the original pic I used to make my photomanipulation--if you'd like.
