Re: Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice.
I've been following the projects of Phil Broad and FourMadMen who are both trying to reconcile the interior and exterior mock-ups of the shuttlecraft we saw onscreen. The general consensus is that the exterior mock-up was actually too small and that the interior mock-up was more believeable as a "real" vehicle designed to operate independently from the mothership for extended periods. In that light the "real" shuttlecraft would be in the area of about 30-33ft. in length. Also, in extent the size of the Enterprise herself is also being called into question based upon a more likely scale for the original 11ft. filming miniature. The more likely size would be nearer 1080ft. as opposed to the long held 947ft.
These issues have been and are still being discussed at length on the Polar Lights' Modeling Boards. Also I took into account the apparent size of the observation deck seen on each side of the hangar and how that reflected on how tall an average person would look like on flight deck. And so I stubburnly (
) stick to my reasoning here in regards to the shuttlecraft. Scotty's height may be just a shade to tall, but then again it wouldn't be by much at all. It gets really tough to estimate some of these things.

I love this shot, but I personally think the shuttles and Scotty are too big. Just based on what the interior of the refit looked like in TMP, and based on the size of the windows in this shot. Still, great idea though![]()
