Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice...

BTW, can anyone tell me why my computer is pitching such a fit over loading the pages of this thread? I'm on a slow dial up, but it's only happening on THIS thread.

The reason is likely because of this thread being image heavy. Also I would suggest not loading all the pages at once but instead only one at a time. I've learned to try and keep my posted images smaller as well since I'm trying to be aware of bandwith.

Another possible factor is that the images are "quoted" in comment posts. Does that multiply the download time or does a computer download a "quoted" image only once?

usually the browser should not request to download the image once more, that's what the cache is for. However if the cache is low the image likely gets deleted after the page is unloaded.

Re: Never seen refit?

Here's a refit of the shuttle I created in photoshop. Enjoy! [image]http://www.websbestcomics.com/images/trek_shuttle.jpg[/image]

Re: Never seen refit?

^^^ Technically it's nicely done. But candidly it's too much and looks way out of place as if trying to make the Galileo look like the interior of a DS9 Runabout. One or two extra pieces, sure, but I feel there's too much added here.

Re: Never seen refit?

I like the main console and the coloring there.

But there just seem to be too many panels on the starboard bulkhead and even overhead forward. TOS always seemed to stress simplicity in design and centralization of certain functions. A shuttlecraft would not have required as many systems monitors as a Connie would have because a shuttlecraft would not have the capacity for so great an onboard computer.

Just some thoughts...but I do like the console coloring.

Re: Never seen refit?

Thanks for the comments. I'm posting a revised shuttle, this time with a view of a planet and some nebula--my goal here was to create something subtle, not overwhelming. In fact, the planet image is taken from one of the bridge panel paintings. Also included here is a revised bridge, with pretty much the same design scheme, a few technical additions, some buttons and lights etc. Mainly trying to bring the realism level up a couple of notches without burying an already great design.

Re: Never seen refit?

^^ There's something about how you're trying to post the images or the links resulting in them not working. I cannot see anything.

Re: Never seen refit?

Web

We can't post images until we've been promoted to "LtCdr"; waiting on that day myself.

However, you can post links. I suggest that you edit your last post so that they are links instead.

Lee Marvin guests stars as a hard-bitten, tough-as-nails, son-of-a-bitch starship captain....whose men will parade through hell for him anyway...

Better yet, he's Commodore Braxton-York of Starbase 16. The one place the Klingons always give a wide berth.

Re: Never seen refit?

Inspired by websbest comics, I decided to add some of his details to my earlier shot and added one other feature I always wanted to see - a glowing thingy.

I wonder if washed up (and court martialed) ensigns and petty officers have a chance of being remolded by the Commodore into a top-notch, well-oiled Starfleet machine?

You might ought to make one of Crewman Donald Sutherland posing as Starfleet's Chief of Operations just in case some other hard-assed admiral shows up for an inspection. :D

Ha Haaa, nice one.

There was a little confusion with my Meatloaf manip earlier, so i guess Lee Marvin, instead of Narvin Lee Aday.

Which by the way, im clearing up and enhancing Meatloafs face. ;)
