Never seen TOS scenes, but would've been nice...

Re: Some suggestions...

This is my first post to your thread, W9. I've been viewing it since you started it. Awesome! Being another "The Cage" fan, I enjoy your art. ;)
I'm not a very good artist like yourself, but I've always wondered what Number One would have looked like in the TOS skant. Since we already have Chapel in TOS and your talent, it might be a possibility now...of course you'd have to put 11+ years of age on her.

Re: Some suggestions...

^^ Well, she'd look pretty much like Nurse Chapel but with dark hair. And if I'm not mistaken I believe there was one episode where Chapel actually did sport her natural dark hair.

A Klingon battle cruiser on an attack run at high warp...

I wanted to try something a little different colour wise. We're so accustomed to seeing gray and green Klingon ships that I always wondered what it would look like in some shade of blue. I'd have preferred an even darker blue, but then it starts fading too much into the background.

Klingon attack...

The Enterprise desperately tries to maneuver on impulse while the Klingon warship attacks at high warp...

The often mentioned yet never seen aft phaser firing in self-defense...

Re: Klingon attack...

I think thats about the place i would suspect those phasers to be hiding yeah. Nice work :)

Re: Klingon attack...

Having just come from your phaser thread...I like this location too. It just seems to me that a phaser bank needs a lot of room...for the weapon itself, duplicated circuitry, capacitors, and coolant tanks.

If the aft bank were on top of the secondary hull, there is little extra room considering the shuttlebay and warp engine room located between the struts. The bottom is the only place left.

Again, another great series of shots.

Re: Klingon attack...

The real main concern regarding any phaser is its potential field of fire I think--just how much "sky" can it actaully cover? Placing the aft phser atop the secondary would severly restrict it's arc of fire except for nearly strictly upwards. Having it at the lower edge of the fantail allows for a greater field of fire IMO and this is aided in some meaasure by the fact that combating ships are at least dozens to more likely hundreds or even thousands of kilometers apart from each other. It just doesn't seem that way because with tv fiction creative necessity forces you to at least sometimes show two combating starships in the same frame.

Re: Klingon attack...

The only other position i could think of would be to build them into the rim beneath the hangar door, that would give them the best fire arc's i guess, they could fire upwards then as well.

Re: Klingon attack...

Ok, im venturing onto character manips, and this is my first, so be nice. ;)

Now, im more at home doing windows and new scenery ect, so this is new to me.

Now, what if Marvin Lee Aday (Aka - Meatloaf) guest starred in early TOS thanks to CGI wizardry...

Meatloafgueststars2.jpg

Now i see him as a captain, obviously due to the uniform, by the name of Captain Hamilton that could rival Kirk and may have been a contender for the Enterprise and lost to Kirk. Subsequently, a stale atmosphere is present with him and Kirk.

Just an idea.

Never seen refit?

:) Thing is I think Lee Marvin was a lot leaner looking in those days. Could you not find a pic of him from the mid '60s? Or are we thinking of different actors? I think I'm referring to the guy who did Cat Balou and The Dirty Dozen.

I'll be getting back to character stuff, but in the meantime...Phase II refit anyone???

Re: Klingon attack...

  :lol:Great job CF! I'm just laughing at the thought of talent night on Hamilton's ship. Can anyone win against Captain Meatloaf?

Re: Klingon attack...

^^^ Yeah, wrong guy. Im a Meatloaf Fan, and his acting is as good as his voice, so naturally this was the next step.

He could belong to The Three Tennor Commanders that tour the galaxy. :p

.....and guest starring Meatloaf in This Side Of Paradise By The Dashboard Lights :D ;)

Re: Never seen refit?

I like the swept struts W9, just more sound structurally IMO. Needs a little tweeking though. The TMP struts always look a little top heavy IMO.

Am I noticing some changes to the saucer section too?

Re: Never seen refit?

^^ Avtually the struts aren't quite as swept back as the TMP refit--I had to make the angle a little less severe to look visually compatible with the TOS engines. I changed the impulse engines, the bridge area and superstructure just under the bridge as well as the dome underside the saucer. Finally I tucked the deflector dish into the secondary hull. At some point I will tweak the nacelles as well. I didnt include the torpedo launcers in the secondary hull because I'm not sure it really goes with the ship's original lines.

Re: Never seen refit?

Good LORD!!!

I've seen pics here that could've been lifted straight from a Paramount master print!!!

How the heck do you people DO that??? :D

BTW, can anyone tell me why my computer is pitching such a fit over loading the pages of this thread? I'm on a slow dial up, but it's only happening on THIS thread.

I like very, very much. Lines look great. Also, like the aft phasers.

The reason is likely because of this thread being image heavy. Also I would suggest not loading all the pages at once but instead only one at a time. I've learned to try and keep my posted images smaller as well since I'm trying to be aware of bandwith.

That must be it...I WAS loading only one page at a time and it was still taking FOREVER... :)

Anyways, keep up the good work!!!
