Netflix's Lost in Space Season 3

I'm frustrated by the recent, bizarre change Netflix made to My List, replacing the sensible text-based list that you could rearrange according to preference with a clumsy image-based format that automatically arranges items by, I guess, whichever ones are "trending" more, which is useless and frustrating for those of us who are trying to watch just one specific show and have trouble finding it in the ever-shifting list. Granted, it's the same way other streaming sites tend to organize their lists of saved shows, by images instead of text, but at least they don't constantly change the arrangement because of "trending" or whatever. And Netflix's old list format was much more useful and flexible, so I don't understand why they ditched it.

Yeah, not being able to organize the list is really annoying. I used to have everything separated by movies and TV, and then genre, and now it's just a jumbled mess. The constant shifting things around randomly is also annoying as hell.

I don't know why it's recent for you, but it's been that way for awhile now. And I agree that it's clumsy. Unless you already recognize the posters in question, it's hard to disseminate the information about what it is, and the other thing is that they frequently change those images. I find the UI in general to be very cluttered and I often find myself frustrated while trying to find something.

I'm the other way around. Give me words, dang it! If nothing else, they take up less space. And they're quicker to load than a bunch of graphics. It takes forever to search through Paramount+'s content lists because you have to wait for all the damn pictures to fill in.

It's better to have a combination. The problem with posters is that unless it's something easily recognizable, it can be hard to pick out from a list. The situation is worsened when they often change the posters. Again, not so bad if you already recognize the property, but when it's something new and you add it to your list and they keep changing the poster for it before you get to it, it's annoying. I've also seen conflicting titles for the same thing via different entries depending on if it's a preview vs looking at the actual entry.

Also, regarding Netflix's UI, I much prefer the UI used for for the Roku/PS4/SmartTV, vs the mobile app. They're very different. I used to like the mobile app, but when I changed tablets months ago, I got a newer version of the app that I feel is almost unusable. Previously, it worked more or less like a touch version of the device app, being able to switch between categories, which made it quite useful. The newer version of the mobile app removed all that and you now only have searches via TV Shows or Movie categories, and if you want to search via more granularity, your only choice is to scroll through endless lists of covers, which frankly is so tiring. And why the heck does Netflix recommend you things you've just finished watching?? I've had that happen to me multiple times.

Does anyone talk about anything much a couple weeks after release? Even the actual news cycle moves on from major events after a couple of weeks.

I've seen suggestions that Netflix should move to weekly release instead of "dropping" whole (or half) seasons at once, and I think that might be a good idea.

Even if a season is dropped all at once, I always take my time watching it. I prefer long term satisfaction over instant gratification.

OK, that is a fair point. I don't get the constantly changing posters, I would make a lot more sense to use the same instantly recognizable poster, it makes it harder to find a specific show or movie when you don't know what poster to look for.

Netflix does have different versions, depending on how old a device is, so not entirely surprising, I guess, but I agree they need to stick with a single poster. I think they change it up every few months. If they don't have a unique poster, they make one up using a screencap.

No, it's more often than that. Cowboy Bebop (the anime) has only been on My List for a little over a week, I think, and the image has already changed once. It's so stupid. I don't need the show advertised to me; I've already selected it to watch. I need to be able to find it readily.

Firefox recently made an inexplicable decision to double-space its bookmark menu so that I have to scroll through the list to find things that were once instantly on hand. Why do they do these things?

No, it's more often than that.

Ok, I wasn't entirely sure. I can't remember of any specific examples. But it doesn't seem very consistent. Some will change fairly often while others don't quite as much. I think viewers need something consistent that they can recognize that works as a sort of branding.

Btw, also agree with you about Wordpress. I think what you're referring to is the block mode. I'm much more proficient using the regular classic mode because it's so much more straightforward. The problem with the block mode is that the way they went about it has been very confusing and it doesn't always work in a very logical manner. I manage multiple wordpress sites, and I had a heck of a time trying to get something to work using the block mode for something that should otherwise be simple.

Sometimes we manage to do that, others... we *plan* to do it that way, but then the weekend is gone and Lucifer's last episodes are over and it's time to go to sleep.

I'm not entirely sure. I know there's a way to select the mode when starting a new post, as you mentioned, and there might be a way to do it via preferences. I know that they've said awhile back that they would be switching people over to block mode and phasing out classic, but I don't know if they've walked that back. There's a lot about their block mode that seems done their way rather than any logical reasoning for it, and that's why it feels so clunky, IMHO. It reminds me of the days of Microsoft Frontpage. I never liked using it, because it would add a lot of garbage to the code which was then harder to fix if something went wrong. I've thought myself from a young age how to code websites, so I've had a lot of instinct in spotting errors, even before syntax highlighting cane along.

I will have to look at my notes and get back to you on that one. But I think it depends on the type of widget. Some aren't very editable beyond a title, and some limit the extent of what you can edit. I tried adding a table plugin at one point and had trouble configuring it. Was really surprised they didn't have table capabilities built-in. Is yours self-hosted or hosted by Wordpress? I manage both types, and there are differences in what's available. Surprisingly, the ones hosted by Wordpress themselves have less customization options available.

Yeah, that has been one of my biggest pet peeves for a long time. Their attempts to "improve" those kinds of programs and apps, almost always make things worse than they were before.

Netflix must have released it early. All 10 episodes of season 3 are available right now. I've got to work late tonight or I'd be watching it as soon as I got home!

I thought so too, but I guess on one of the trailers (or somewhere anyway), they mentioned it as the 1st because I made a note at some point at least a few weeks ago about it to remind me to go and look for it.
