I don't know about the impact this has on Hollywood, but the sale of left-leaning Democratic news channels in America to right-wing companies is equivalent to the sale of all media outlets in Turkey to pro-Erdogan companies.

TKO Group Holdings' total assets are less than a quarter of those of Netflix, Inc., In fact, Netflix, Inc. has an operating income that is above TKO's total assets. So, that's not gonna happen.

Skydance was relatively tiny (reportedly about $4 billion in value) before purchasing Paramount. It's a small company using massive debt and Ellison backing to take over the industry.

The fact that Larry Ellison is the third richest person on Earth is what makes this the exception from the rule.

Well, Vince McMahon is also an associate of Trump. But then there's the difference between Netflix and Paramount for Trump: Netflix doesn't have a news division, and it's not have had a political comedy talk show in a long time.

Eh, he may be, but unlike Ellison, he's not running a major network like Paramount. This is all on Ellison and his ties to Trump for going after WBD so aggressively.

But you're right that Netflix doesn't have a news division, and I think for that, Netflix would have to reorganize itself and possibly recategorize itself in terms of regulations if it does end up doing that as it wouldn't simply be a streaming service anymore.

Mark Ruffalo responded to this.

This whole thing is a mess. No matter what happens the viewer will be worse off.

Yeah, there's no easy way out. But at least Netflix started as a mail-order DVD rental service and built its way up from there, vs WBD and Paramount which are both huge studios with that I think would be more problematic. There's not a whole lot of overlap between Netflix and WBD vs Paramount.
