"Netflix style " Star Trek Movies on Paramount plus?

I recently saw the Ready room episode where they showcased the AR wall. Got me thinking on how that tech would potentially aid a possible Anthology series. But it also got me thinking, perhaps part of the long term plan is to produce Star Trek themed movies on Paramount plus .Similar to how Netflix or Apple TV plus does it. To start, this would run independent from the theatrical releases with a much more conservative budget. .I do realize eventually all Star Trek movies may be released this way long term.

But In the mean time , a line of Stream only trek movies ( maybe 1 or 2 per year) would enhance the prestige facter for the Paramount streamer I should think.

May open the door to experiment on more diverse storylines like the Quenton Tarantino movie and could bring in more Hollywood calabre acting, writing and directing.

Big budget theatrical features will always aim to be popcorn flick crowd pleasers. Which is not a bad thing. But the lower budget streaming model could expand things so much more in terms of the range of storytelling and target audience.

Just so long as they start to use the wall a little more creatively. Right now it feels more like a stage play with a big background piece. The Mando production used it much more dynamically IMO, most of the time you couldn't tell what was what.

Streaming services are pretty good at doing TV shows. But to me, there's just about always something "off" about made-for-streaming movies in comparison to theatrical releases.

I wonder if part of that is just because it’s much easier to get a movie made if the studio and the distributor are the same company. As well as their main motivation being to churn out content to keep subscribers interested.

I think for Star Trek it would be a good opportunity to get more experimental and try stuff that wouldn’t work for series or theatrical movies.

It would certainly be possible to do a bunch of anthology movies on P+ with the AR wall around and the CGI of today. Those feature length episodes they use to air during DS9 & VOY’s respective runs were very good watches.

Having the first Long Trek starring Michelle Yeoh seems like a no brainer since she’s a movie star and she already has characters in the ST Universe to play. But there isn’t much movement from CBS Studios on anything. Nothing else is holding this idea up.
