Netflix Series SENSE8 Coming June 5

Nice one, but I am a bit worried, that they didn't have the time to clean the footage from wires and cameras for this trailer.

No need to worry. That shot is of one of the characters who's an actor in a telenovela shooting his show. It's very deliberate and deliberately obvious.

Sorry, did't catch that. Quite the effort for a telenovela to be shooting on steadicam and such a lens though.

JMS tweeted about this. Apparently what's being shot is a movie:

Yes a stunt rope and camera is visible in the Sense8 trailer. Intentional. One sub-story involves a movie that's being shot. #notamistake

Looks like it has a lot of potential. Between JMS and Tom Tykwer, I've been very interested in this project from the get go.

Sounds interesting, I'll definitely be checking it out. Based on the concept though, looks like it'll put the kibosh on an adaptation of Robert J. Sawyer's Triggers happening any time soon.

I remember seeing JMS talk about this a while back and thought the idea sounded okay, but shrugged it off as something I wouldn't pay much attention to... The trailer changed my mind. I am cautiously interested to see what comes of this project.

I didn't realize they were actually seeing and speaking to each other.

I think it is interesting that Netflix is using its international appeal to its advantage here. One of the biggest problems with Netflix is that its purchased programming is still subject to international copyright laws which are outdated given the current technology. Once you move from one country to another you never know what you are going to get--people always say the U.S. has the widest selection but there are many programs available in other countries not available in the U.S.

The advantage with Netflix original programming is that it gets released worldwide wherever Netflix is available all at the same time.

Here's the first review from somebody who's seen all twelve episodes.

Twelve episodes allow the stories of each character to blossom and overlap, exploring the effects of Kala’s pre-marital doubts, Riley’s drug-addled friends, or Will’s alcoholic father. Far from detracting from the conspiracy and intrigue surrounding their newfound abilities, these emotional moments add depth and strong connectivity between members of a large and varied cast. Other relationships outside the cluster, such as the delightful trio of Lito, his secret lover, and his fake girlfriend, allow for involvement beyond those with the mental link. Freema Agyeman of Doctor Who fame is the crucial rescuer of her girlfriend, Nomi, and Will’s partner on the police force reacts amusingly to the invisible interactions of the hidden cluster-mates. All of these secondary characters add spice to an already well-seasoned recipe.

A number of the reviewers who only had access to the first three episodes had mixed reactions but this seems very positive.

The show debuts worldwide at 12:01 AM Pacific time June 5.

Just saw the concept trailer for it, and that and the synopsis kind of reminds me of Orphan Black. Might be an interesting look-see.

Reviews seem mixed, leaning a little positive so far. Apparently, the show has an ambitious story, terrific visuals, paper thin characters, and hammy dialogue -- almost exactly what you'd expect from a collaboration between JMS and the Wachowskis, come to think of it.

I may try it out this weekend.

Watched the first episode. They are really taking their time to introduce the characters without pushing the supernatural angle too much.
It is there but very subtle until the end when the first 2 characters speak to each other without realizing what is going on.

Not all if them get the spotlight equally.
Some are more interesting than others.

Have to say, it was initially a bit shocking how they chose to introduce Freema's character after her role as Martha Jones in the very kid friendly Doctor Who. :D

I am intrigued enough to keep watching, but not enough to nit spread it out over a few days. ;)

I just finished episode #10 and I literally need to take a break from the intensity of the last I-don't-know-how-many-minutes of the episode.

This show is about interconnectedness and I've already seen a lot of people finding reasons to distance themselves from some of the experiences and/or characters. Fair enough - not everything will be to everybody's taste. But it's an amazing thing to watch these characters connect and share experiences.

They said early on that the cluster is one person.

Then they say that love in a cluster is the most selfish love of all.

Sounds like masturbation.

I find it hard to root for a love affair between the same person and him or herself.

I watched the first episode. It was certainly ambitious in its geographic scope, but the writing -- especially the dialogue -- was, frankly, awful. This is most evident in the subplot involving a Chicago police officer (Brian J. Smith, as much of a block of wood here as he was in Stargate Universe), which hammers home its themes to the point of absurdity.

Maybe it gets better, but I think I'd rather spend my time rewatching J. Michael Strczynski's Babylon 5 or The Matrix.

Well, JMS's dialogue has always been ... hit or miss. At times, it sparkles and at other times it's corny.
