News Netflix orders The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to series

The only religious issues I ever heard about with Chilling Adventures was the Church of Satan being upset that the show used some of their imagery without their permission. I think it was the statue at the magic school, but I can't remember for sure.

I know about that one--there was a Canadian connection there. The Nth Doctor's report sounds believable.

I was thinking more about how I can't believe the religious right in the U.S. didn't turn this series into a huge scandal. Maybe that would have given the show more seasons.

The "religious right" ain't what it used to be.

Well, that's a shame. My friend Rita has been working on the show since the first season.

:(

The first set of season one episodes came close to greatness. It didn't pull its punches depicting a cult of old time weird woods witches. Outside of depicting Sabrina as a bit too divorced from her supposed upbringing as a witch they had a good foundation for a lasting series.

They should have kept the mystery around Sabrina, the devil and the rest for a few more parts along with not blowing up the Church of Night as it really provided a great base for the show, but that is water under the bridge. Hopefully the last part manages to recapture some of the magic of the first part.

The biggest error of the show was moving away from the horror element brought on by the witches, their coven and deity. They tried moving the show in a generic super hero direction quickly and undermined what made it different from dozens of other TV shows and movies I can list.

Brilliant! :D

Yeah, thats pretty great. The 90s Sabrina show is the only TGIF show I remember watching as a kid (it started when I was six), so its cool to see it referenced in the Netflix show, even though I couldn't get into the Netflix show in general.

I've watched all of the final season so far except for the grand finale which I'm saving for tomorrow.

I've really enjoyed the season with the focus on the Eldritch Terrors as friends and foes work together to deal with them. Without spoiling much, my two favorite episodes so far are the two most radical: "The Imp of the Perverse" and "The Endless." And I love how Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea are utilized in their episode. :D

My only real complaint is that Theo hasn't gotten much to do aside working on his relationship with Robin. It's well handled but it feels like the writers don't know what to do with him at this point since he doesn't have any supernatural connection (I mean, aside from his relationship with Robin).

This (final) season was a big disappointment for me. The Elritch Terrors were a weird plot and I didn’t find it all that engrossing but then again the show as a whole is rather slow. I did like watching the two Sabrinas interact and felt very nostalgic seeing the original Hilda and Zelda (from the 90’s sitcom). I hated how the show ended.

The good of this season was the two Sabrina's interacting and yes the sitcom.

The bad I don't know where to begin other then I go back to the show jumped the shark when the devil lost his place as the centering force of the show (the church, the book, the theological fight).

The show should have worked with the base it had and continued to go at a much smaller and more decompressed pace. They had a season of material to be had from the witch hunter plotline alone. The show went world ending calamity to world ending calamity at lightening speed starting with the finale of part 2, but that wasn't a good thing the show was never better then when if slowly developed genuinely frightening witches and their world. It didn't need to try to become JV Buffy with a healthy dash of MCU added in. That killed what make it work in the first place.

I tracked with (and rather enjoyed) the first season of Riverdale (and most of the second), but then it got a little too weird for me. That being said I'm actually looking forward to this crossover.

I've been mostly watching out of habit and it's probably got more weird.

Really the show meandered around and had problems in its World Building from the very first season, it just got worse and more muddled as time went on. To me the characters kept me engrossed in the first couple of seasons, but the last season was a complete mess.
And the ending really sends the wrong message for a show supposedly aimed at teens (you know, what Nick did to be with Sabrina again)
