At the end of the day... this lifetime fan would've been much happier with a straight reboot of the franchise. I didn't need to be pandered to. YMMV.

All that messing with history in Enterprise created the TOS/TNG/etc timeline. The USS Defiant (originally from "The Tholian Web") computer records in "In a Mirror, Darkly" and Riker's holoprogram in "These Are The Voyages" (set during "The Pegasus") indicate that Enterprise happened in the past of TOS and TNG.
