Nemesis

Watched Nemesis again today n i have to say how much i enjoyed it (I know alot of fans didn't for whatever reasons). Hadn't watched it for a while and i i wanna ask rather than the producers making a new film about the past (TOS Era) i feel they should carry on in the 24/25th century. Obviously Jonathan Frakes wants to carry on with Trek (With him being in These are the voyages) so why not do something with the Titan? Alot of people hated her and Voyager but why not have Janeway as a key role somewhere? All this has probably been discussed before but to be honest with you i'd rather see that. Not saying i dislike the TOS era, because i don't. But when i see a series like TOS, everything looks dated, old fashioned (Obviously because it was the 60's) but then comes along ENT, and everything looks more futuristic than it did in TOS, and it was set BEFORE TOS, that kinda annoys me, just little things like that. I'm sure a few people would agree with me on that. I wanna see these 'strange new worlds' and 'new civilisations' not ones that i know of and that we know evenually become apart of the Federation. What's Trek XI going to offer that we haven't seen before? Apart from everything looking more futuristic than it did in TOS? Nothing. Back to Nemesis, I wanna know what happens regarding the Romulans, i wanna see Riker sign the peace treaty with them. I wanna see what happens to the Remans. Atleast lets have some closure for the characthers we all know and love, lets see DS9, and whats happening there now. Lets see what happened to Chakotay, B'Elanna, Seven, The Doctor, Tuvok, Paris, Kim Etc. Etc. Etc. Spent too many years watching these guys for all of a sudden they disappear with no explaination of what they're doing now! A very annoyed fan indeed! and yes, Watching Nemesis made me say all this lol :brickwall:

I can understand your frustrations, however, look at the work done so far. Everything leads up to Trek IX and X, and they go nowhere. I also want to seek out new worlds and new civilizations, but we've seen that 9 and 10 didn't even remotely do anything to that effect. 8 was successful because of the script and the acting. The story didn't really break into new world and new civilizations either. I think the ball was completely dropped in that department, and many felt that perhaps we weren't going anywhere with it.

Now, Titan, I would love to see where that goes, but I think it's better in books than on the big screen, although I certainly wouldn't mind a movie!

J.

I've always thought that they could have done more with Voyager. Spanned the series out alot longer.
That and DS9 also especially with Captain Sisko saying that he "had to go but will be back" in the very last episode of DS9.

Another thing...
if the creators of marvel are thinking of a Wolverine movie then surely paramount could create a Worf movie. Or maybe a crossover? hahaha now im just going overboard. But seriously as if that wouldn't be a bad ass movie seeing those two duke it out!

I, too, like the idea of learning more about TNG's characters, but I would prefer that the studio treat TNG, DS9, and VOY as an era rather than individual shows. I would love to see a miniseries made that show Will and Deanna on Titan with Georde as his Number One (LaForge certainly proved himself worthy in the Sona' battle in INS). I would also like to see them include among some new characters some familiar ones such as Beverly at Starfleet Medical, Tom and B'lanna Paris onboard Voyager as XO and Chief of Engineering, respectively, reporting to a new captain. In addition, I would like to see Picard, Worf, Bashir, Garrick, 7of9, and maybe Kim. If a four-part/8-hour miniseries is successful, they could be done annually; when the new one is aired, the last one is released on DVD. New ones would be aired on Spike or the SciFi Channel and repeated a few times. I would leave the movies under JJA's domain and put Frakes in charge of TV projects.

After "Insurrection" and "Nemesis", it was too much of a financial risk.

Obviously Jonathan Frakes wants to carry on with Trek (With him being in These are the voyages) so why not do something with the Titan?

It's a series of licensed tie-in novels. Four so far.

Alot of people hated her and Voyager but why not have Janeway as a key role somewhere?

Because "a lot of people hated her".

I wanna know what happens regarding the Romulans, i wanna see Riker sign the peace treaty with them. I wanna see what happens to the Remans. You wanna buy yourself some DS9, VOY, TNG (and Titan) and ENT Relaunch novels.

They should really do a 3 Pronged Movie Attack. I want to see a)TOS movie (like the one they already are making) b)24th century follow up (Titan would be OK, or something else) and c)ENT continuation movie.

Now THAT would be sweet. Especially if they all came out with in about a year of each other.

as has been mentioned several times with regards to mixing up crews, it is completely unimgai.... actually, can't even be bothered to argue this anymore. Let fanwank rule...

Alot of people hated her and Voyager but why not have Janeway as a key role somewhere?

Because a lot of people hated her, and VOY is just too obscure to base a movie on. In fairness, so is DS9 (my favourite series). Plus, both VOY and DS9 had closed storylines which concluded in the final episodes.

VOY ended when they got home.

DS9 ended when Bajor was delivered and Sisko fulfilled his purpose.

Nothing else really needs to be said after those two conclusions.

As for NEM, it's the worst Star Trek movie by miles. It killed TNG which was already on shaky ground following the boredom that was INS

^ Yeah, id agree if we were talking about continuing the series in some shape or form. However, including the characters wouldn't be so hard.

Can u explain how it killed TNG? If anything it paved the way for more stories and more movies/feature length episodes to be made. IMO.

I'm still hopeful for TNG. If TFF didn't kill movies with Kirk and Co., then NEM could didn't kill TNG movies. TFF was far worse then even NEM, which sucked big time.

I must admit, though, every few months I get the urge to watch NEM. Most often I resist it and watch something else on DVD, but there are times when I fool myself into thinking that it couldn't have been that bad. I try to convince myself that it did have a couple of good plot points and scenes. In addition, the soundtrack was pretty good, if a bit lean. I remember seeing it for the first time thinking music should've come in sooner in a couple of scenes, which would've added to the drama of the action. Then I watch it...foolishly. My mind reels about all of the missed opportunities the writer had to provide us with great dialog among our favorite characters, not to mention exciting action. Pity. The same thing has happened for me with TFF only worse. It'll be on a cable channel and I'll think, "C'mon! It couldn't be as bad as I remember," and I turn it on. Within ten minutes, I'm changing channels. What a horrible, horrible movie. But TUC came out any way and I thoroughly enjoyed that one. The same will likey happen for TNG's characters. In time, we will see them again.

If it didn't kill TNG, Trek XI would NOT be about reviving TOS.

To be fair, it's set in TNG timeline...just that they go back lol. The only reason they do not wanna do another TNG movie is because Patrick Stewart doesn't want to revive the role. You'll see in about 10 years, they'll make another TNG movie! :bolian:

I actually just cracked my first Titan novel the other day and it's actually pretty good. I can totally see why it would be a dud on the big screen, though. I mean if you're John Q. Moviegoer, first thing you say is 'Wow, my name sucks!' Next thing you say is 'Who gives a shit about Riker on Titan?'

The fact is that 24th Century Trek kept exploring Strange New Worlds and the public at large found them boring, so hopefully they'll dig the Old Still Pretty Interesting Worlds that the new movie's going to give them.

^ Hmm good point, however i still feel they do something for the fans, perhaps a feature length episode/movie that goes straight to DVD and is obviously heavily budgeted but focused on a really really good storyline.

Ya'll are gonna throw rotten tomatoes at me, But I liked Nemesis as well. I thought it would have been much better if they had used the ending in the deleted scenes with Commander Madden, Robert Culp. (Webb ON JAG, and Major hayes on Enterprise). I loved that scene. while not the greates trek movie.. It was entertaining.
