Negative responses to the Movie threads are being closed?!

That does seem a touch unusual no?
i still have not seen it, ran into an issue so trying
tomorrow.Still, I heard two words today that shifts things
totally. Those words were alternate orality.
Therefore the only question is if Abrams' alternate reality
is reasonably put together. It should not be compared to
the trek we already know, save to remember that we have
been through the alternate situation before i. e.
"Mirror Mirror."

Free speech etc....
I think you are mistaken. This privately owned board is not about free speech. Someone owns it and gets to decide what he wants to see and what he doesn't.

That may be true. But to have a popular and successful board one needs to put up with opinions that one disagrees with. The point of a forum is to discuss, its not interesting when one is preaching to the choir.

If everyone was to have their own review thread - positive, negative or otherwise - this forum would be almost unnavigable. There is no "censorship" or suppression of "free speech" or anything else along those lines going on. So long as all participants abide by board rules and discuss the post rather than the poster, all views on the movie are welcome. Sure, most of them seem to be positive but one is most assuredly allowed to have negative views.

I'll be happy when folks around here stop opening new threads every freekin 30 seconds....

Let's just keep the discussion going in the General Reaction Thread stuck at the top...

Once again from what I got of the Mod who closed the topic, he was going to move it but some of the other comments from other posters didn't seem to fit with the grading thread sooooo he closed it. You were not censored, you can still VIEW the thread, just discussion on it was closed. How is that limiting your free speech. The post was closed... not Deleted if a mod was willy nilly deleting negative threads you could then cry foul.

Now deepbreath.

I agree with that. But the older, long threads are too long and quickly get off the subject. Its not fun navigating them either. People come and go, and should be able to post.

Upper right hand corner of the table for the forum underneath the page selection list is this lovely little thing that says Search this forum. Does wonders to help find OLD topics... I'm just sayin.

Oh good lord. If you come up with a better way to accommodate everyone's need to draw attention to themselves via new threads (ie "MY opinion is MORE important than some thread of several OTHER posters") while at the same time keeping a simplified posting system for ease of traffic and without the use of a Search function or email notifier, I'm pretty sure everyone in Message Board Land would love to hear it.

You may interpret my post as snark, but that's the reality of any popular message board.

Again not easy and not interesting to do so. I would like to create my own thread. Thats what a forum is for.

Thank you.

So in other words, you have no solution to your own problem. That's productive.

Well, let's look at it another way: as of this writing, there are active 3,563 posters here, and more will most certainly join because of the movie and any extended media that comes our way. If everyone saw the movie and wanted to post their own opinion on it (nevermind theories and discussions and analyses), just how does your thread stick out? How does your thread become more valid than the other 3,562? It isn't, it's not fair, and that's not how any board logically operates.

Also, not using the Search function is just downright lazy and stubborn. Who are you hurting by choosing not to use it?

And if A Mod doesn't see any merit in the contiuation of said message post then he has the right to close it..

By the way the Grading post there were talking about IS STICKIED which keeps it at the top of the forum..... So really not that hard to navigate you just wanted to start a new topic to stroke your own ego.

AND now you ARE being INSULTED. But you were condesending first so It evens out. You're welcome.

Y'know, I completely forgot about the Stickied part. How much more convenient can things get?

...mumble, grumble, mumble...

Oh Lordy... won't it be lovely when the population around here goes back to semi-normal in a week or two...

...ain't been this busy around here since the day after ENTERPRISE premeired..

>>>heaps loads of un-voiced praise on the Mod's who decided to stick around even though they knew what was cummin' a long time ago<<<

The thread in question has been reopened at the request of the OP and moved to the Grading & Discussion thread. I think this one has served its purpose.
