Need model willing to play half Vulcan for Dominion War blog

Wow, never thought I'd write those words. Here's the deal. I'm creating a Dominion War blog and I need a face to put on the character's MySpace page (or whatever a 24th-century equivalent would be called).

The character is half Vulcan/half human like Spock, but she's relatively short, just a little pudgy and cute. And with the genetic lottery that goes into trans species breeding, she's got the ears but not the copper-based blood.

So, if you've already got the Deep Space Nine uniform hanging in your closet (actually, the character probably wouldn't be wearing the uniform for a MySpace page) and wouldn't mind being the face of the ... wait for it ... plog, please send me a PM and I can give you a link to the website.

There's no money in this, of course. It's the equivalent of a fan film and I live in fear of Paramount.

PS Any ideas what a 24th-century social networking site might be called. I figure anything with space in it would be pretty lame, but you never know. If this were a Larry Niven crossover, it would be a "MyKnownSpace page."

^ A little chink in your plan is that as an ensign, you cannot yet utilize the PM feature, I believe.

I would not mind role play. But to get a uniform and dress up for someone that is not going to happen. I would not mind being your friend Jennifer as I love role play. Maybe .... but I need a few more postings on your part Jennifer.

I appreciate the quick response. Let me just make it clear that all I need is a one-time photo of someone who could reasonably look like a 22-year-old half Vulcan newly minted Academy graduate with the rank of ensign.

The "plog" is essentially Bridget Jones meets Horatio Hornblower meets Star Trek.

I saw Star Trek TOS when it first came out and although I look good for 49, can't really hope to play 22 without so much PhotoShop ...

I just need what is essentially a MySpace profile photo. If you have long enough hair to cover the ears, great. If you're a total Star Trek nut (I make starship models, so I think I qualify) and have a set of ears you've been dying to try out, all the better.

Being a Star Trek project, I'm trying not to exceed the "raciness" of a Deep Space Nine episode.

That is true to ask is free. My question is what do I get for dressing up in a star trek uniform and use make-up to look half human and half Vulcan? Would I not get the bill for the cost and you get the reward?

I would be willing to work as your friend. It is just that I am 27 and I could look like a 22 year old woman. It is just a question who gets the rewards and who gets the shaft.

If you're not interested I understand. Basically, I'm an unemployed web designer and failed author just trying to do something people might enjoy. I'm also facing the imminent purchase of Adobe Creative Suite 3 and a new Mac so I don't have the luxury of spending any money on this project.

Also, it's not necessary to get a uniform or use any makeup. The character has iron-based blood cells so no pale green makeup. I'm looking for permission to use a candid photograph on a website. I could just troll through MySpace and steal someone's photo but that would be wrong.

And I'd like to be your friend too. I've been away from the Star Trek fan world a long time (my last convention I saw DeForest Kelley), but the lack of any new Star Trek has prompted me to tackle what is essentially fan fiction.

Jennifer - you are perfectly free to ask for help on a DS9 project if you like. This confusion is not your fault.

The thing is, regardless of whether you COULD pay someone or not, on this board, no money should be changing hands. You did not offer to pay anyone, so you are okay in asking for voluntary assistance with your project.

I know this has turned into a bit of a tussle, but don't be too upset by it. It's just life on TrekBBS.

It's really a shame what happened here between Ezri and PKTrekGirl. I personally don't feel Ezri did anything wrong. I think she was just concerned with the logistical aspects of costume, communications, and possible expense reimbursement.

I'm not trying to come off like a mod, just a concerned citizen of TrekBBS.

I think it did get blown out of proportion and if someone can contact her and get her back on the board it would be a good thing to do.

Perhaps I can call in a Section 31 marker or two.

Well, given that Ezri was here about a week and a half and picked up one warning (not from me, but in another forum) and AT LEAST two friendlies that I know of (from me - maybe more from others) and STILL did not read the rules as I suggested, I frankly have very little sympathy. When you join TrekBBS, you actually have to represent that you have read the rules and agree to abide by them.

Clearly, Ezri did not.

I'm sorry you disagree with me...but my feeling on the matter still stands.

And since it's clear that Jennifer is now not coming back, I agree with the previous poster, and am closing this thread.
