need a quick helping hand making an online portfolio

I write for a monthly periodical and want to include the articles in their published form as my portfolio so I can get a FT job. I scanned each page into my computer, but the size of the pics is too big. For example, when I respond to most craigslist job ads, the max file size for an email is 150K and just one picture of a published article is beyond that. How do I make a portfolio or part of a portfolio that I could send online. I also wish I had a basic site to present this stuff for easy viewing. Any suggestions as to how I can do it?

You can post large size pics on my site, and as long as you keep it to the right area, theres no problem with that.

preferably the very last forum on the board "yellow submarine.".

or if you want more company, "just me" or "introduce yourself."

I have a long list of forums over there.

Yhanks for the offer. I might take you up on it when you I get a bit of time later. The images are from a newspaper and they are scanned on my scanner. I only have 14 such pages, just so you know.
About resizing in paint, i'm concerned about legibility if I make the sizes small enough.

Also is there a way I can send thumbnail versions in emails that they can enlarge later, or would the file size simply be the large size?

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but no, making a thumbnail is something done locally on a server site. You can't really make a thumbnail

and have it magickally decompress in email. You send the image you send at its the file size that it is.

I also again, don't mean to be the bearer of pesky thoughts, but have you considered the possibility that your realistic best solution might just be to type the information into a text format with an offer to send the originals upon request?

I don't know what the type font is, or etc details, but you should be able to shrink it down at least a little.?

Tuln, when you scanned the articles, how high was the resolution? If you scanned at 600 dpi, try doing it again at 300 or even 150 dpi. Also, avoid using full color if possible -- you'll get significantly smaller file sizes if you use grayscale or even black and white (although the latter might look a little rough if your resolution is too low).

Finally, try scanning to a PDF. I've found file sizes further decrease that way. Alternatively, go into an image manipulation program and try re-saving the file as a JPG with more compression (and slightly less quality), or a GIF with a smaller palette.

As prometheuspan notes, you can also make the image smaller and the file size will decrease, but you may find finer print becomes illegible if you go too small.

The rule of thumb here is: take the time to experiment.

LOL I hadnt thought of that. Ironically I did something similar for someone else..I helped her put pages of her childrens books there.

Or if you're still in contact with the various news outlets where you published the articles, they might be able to send you a *.pdf file.
