During the week of Christmas, the NCIS team is working overtime searching for a prime suspect who turns out to have been dead for 17 years.

Just average for NCIS, maybe a little below average. Though I did enjoy the Gibbs bit at the end.

My affiliate screwed up the feed skipped some parts, replayed others, minutes of a blank screen multiple times. That may have colored my impression of it, but I don't think so.

Excellent. A great guset performance by the ever reliable Peter Coyote. The story itself was both funny and moving. A great Christmas episode and I absolutely loved the ending with my man Gibbs.

Great episode. :bolian:

I agree about Peter Coyote. He was amazing. I've always enjoyed him and he hasn't lost his edge at all.

I too loved Gibbs at the end...he's just a big softy isn't he? :luvlove:

Ya know, he could still find someone of child bearing years to live happily ever after with....just sayin'...you listening out there writers?

If they ever do a crossover, maybe Gibbs can hook up with the redhead from The Mentalist. Granted, she's young enough to be his daughter, but still... he's the second-ever People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive.

And the guy on The Mentalist who likes the redhead is... Cromartie No. 1.

I think he should be done with redheads....it's not healthy.

That redhead on The Mentalist is cute though.

He could be People's Sexiest Man Alive again as far as I'm concerned. He's even more sexy now than he was back in '87 (I think I'm right about it being '87) when he had the title. :bolian:

Since Hugh Jackman is now the Sexiest Man Alive, does that mean Mark Harmon is dead? :p

Rocky Carroll's been pretty much wasted on this show. I wonder if he'll get to direct any episodes or if he's just there for the TV paychecks he's gotten used to.

On his blog at TVGuide.com, Rocky Caroll said he just finished filming his last scene before the hiatus, but when he returns in January, they will be filming a "Vance-centric" episode.

Good episode, but my judgment may be clouded because I haven't seen the show in a while. Above Average.

I was a bit upset that Abbey wasn't there at the end with Gibbs to actually witness the "Christmas Miracle" that she'd been striving for the whole episode.

I also really love the way they implied that Abbey still believes in Santa.

I haven't been following NCIS this season like I used to (I've been watching House lately but it was a rerun yesterday). But I thought Abby seemed...a bit less goth.

I loved it. A Christmas episode that doesn't actually suck!

Look at all the "a special Christmas ___________" from comedies and dramas that viewers have suffered through over they years.

NCIS actually beat the odds with a decent mystery including a nice little twist in the case and wrapping it all into the Christmas season.

I had a really bad feeling about Gibbs last phone call.

Spoilers.

After he had said that if he had one wish on Christmas it would be to see his little girl again, I thought he was calling a phone at his home where his little girls voice was set to play (the same recording we heard before).

That would've been really sad.

Gibbs under my Christmas Tree. What sane girl wouldn't love that?
And I agree. Jethro calling Dad at the end ... Priceless!

Sad? Yes. Creepy? Definitely.

Calling his formerly estranged dad was a very nice moment.

You know, if this wasn't NCIS, the episode would be pretty meh. The characters are what sold it so that it wasn't another generic sappy Christmas special.
