When one of Gibbs' boats is found with two murdered soldiers, Gibbs is forced to investigate the involvement of his mentor Mike Franks, and prevent a possible international confrontation.

After the NCIS team discovers the body of a marine who had been living a double life, they look for a motive to his murder.

hmm there's something that doesn't quite add up with what we've been told before about Gibb's handywork in the NCIS description.

Thought it was a pretty poor episode and Mike Franks is rapidly becoming more tedious the cloak n dagger shit from last season.

Did CBS lose the majority of TrekBBS to V?!?!? :p

I DVRed it and I'll be watching it tomorrow night. It sounds like a Gibbs centric episode and I like Mike Franks so I imagine I'll enjoy it.

Well I guess this show won't be crossing over with the now-canceled The Unit anytime soon.

I wonder if next week's NCIS will have required watching the Los Angeles episode it's following up on.

On a side note, Tony's father has been cast for an upcoming episode...

Robert Wagner.

How can there be a follow up? Seemed to be wrapped up pretty well.

And you know, what kind of ending was that? :p
The girl gets away with murder...

That's freaking BRILLIANT. When I saw that the role had been cast, my first thought was "I hope they get [you-know-who]." And they DID.

:bolian:

Ohhh, sexy Asian assassin. Right.

Excellent. I always like seeing Mike. Nice to see Robert Patrick again (and that the character got a free trip to Mexico)... I like that the mother wised up and realized what is really important in life.

Another :techman:!

I thought it was excellent. I love episodes with lots of Gibbs, I love episodes with Mike Franks and I love episodes with plenty of Vance and Gibbs interplay so this one was a winner for me.

I hate to say it, but my Vance-hatred is... well, softening.

Crap.

I so loved hating that character. I have to wonder if the Powers That Be haven't somehow dropped the ball on all those hints they gave us last season about Vance NOT being Vance, or having some deep dark secret.

Found this quote from Michael Weatherly about NCIS: Los Angeles:

"I won’t do a crossover, unless they put a gun to my head. It won't help them, and my character is really only valuable in the context of Ziva, Gibbs and McGee. Robbed of his context, that guy might really be inappropriate."

Gibbs has made sly comments to Vance this season and they had a head to head on it in the last season finale where Gibbs flat out said he doesn't trust him. Next week's episode might hit on it some more since it appears to be Vance centric.

Finally got around to watching these tonight.

NCIS - Above Average (I like the Gibbs/Mike Franks episodes)
NCIS: LA - Average. (Not bad, but nothing great)

My only gripe with NCIS was the bit with Ziva and the mercenary recognizing each other in a dark smoky room, and him stopping the mission based on that.

That bit was a bit silly.

But like I said, I always like it when Mike Franks makes an appearance. Got a kick out of his banter with Vance.

That mercenary appeared on a previous episode of NCIS though, which explains why he recognized her. I had to look it up afterward myself because I couldn't remember who he was.

Yep, he played the super Marine on steroids that kicked Zivas butt.

I thought that was pretty easy to figure out...

I knew he'd been in an episode but I couldn't remember which one and I doubt most viewers could either. They should've made a mention of it but it didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the episode.
