I knew that name sounded familiar, but I couldn't remember which episode I'd heard it in.

hmm it looks like I'm the only one in here who doesn't like Mike Franks.

I find him abrasive but he will grow on you if you give him the chance. I'm just starting to warm up to his character.

Finally got around to watching these tonight.

NCIS - Above Average (I like the Gibbs/Mike Franks episodes)
NCIS: LA - Average. (Not bad, but nothing great)

My only gripe with NCIS was the bit with Ziva and the mercenary recognizing each other in a dark smoky room, and him stopping the mission based on that.

That bit was a bit silly.

But like I said, I always like it when Mike Franks makes an appearance. Got a kick out of his banter with Vance.
That mercenary appeared on a previous episode of NCIS though, which explains why he recognized her. I had to look it up afterward myself because I couldn't remember who he was.
Yep, he played the super Marine on steroids that kicked Zivas butt.

Oh...okay...that was the episode in season 4 or 5 where the guy escaped from the psyche ward - they thought he had PTSD, but he was really all roided up?

Did she even visit him on screen after he was flushed out to the point of being sane? I remember Gibbs visiting him in the night and leaving him his silver star....but I can't recall Ziva visiting him....

Anyway, just a small nit in any event. Overall, I liked the episode - as I said, any of those Gibbs/Mike Franks episodes are great with me! :)

the guy really wanted to be a marine which is why he took the steroids to make him a super marine. When he recognized Ziva he knew that it wasn't a kidnapping scenario like they had been told, so he backed off the plan. I like his character and I bet we'll see him again.

I didn't recognize the guy but it's nice to see some bit of continuity with minor characters. I really hate it when a brand new character is introduced as a longtime friend only to be the bad guy by the end of the episode. It'd be better to set it up with a few prior appearances, even if they're really small.

^ Well, I'm glad to see him back since I did like his episode way-back-when.

However, if he was a mercenary in this one, I guess he got kicked out of the Marines, which is sad given that he was a hero.

Sad that a Marine can risk his life for others and 'earn' a silver star....and then get it taken back at the last minute because it's discovered he used steroids to get into the Marines, while professional athletes can get into the hall of fame and keep their records when it is discovered that they used steroids....for a much less lofty aim than to defend their country. :(
