NCIS Minus One... (SPOILER)

The Wrap:
Michael Weatherly will depart the long-running CBS drama “NCIS” at the end of this season...

I may not have watched NCIS for a while, but Tony was one of the great characters. I hope that he leaves to be with Ziva.

He's been great but I'm not surprised at this news. 13 years is a long time to be playing the same role.

I just hope he finds true love. ;)

His character has been suffering Riker syndrome. Hopefully he'll get promoted to his own NCIS Office.

I agree. I hope they don't kill him off, he just goes and works somewhere random running his own team. This way he can come back for sweeps.

But even my grandmother says this season has been horrible.

I saw this news a bit ago, and I agree that it's not very surprising. I mean the show is already in elite company as far as runtime goes.

Weatherly is definitely one of the biggest reasons I watch the show. I will miss him. Though I don't think NCIS needs another spinoff. The plot barrel is getting pretty empty as it is with three shows. Though I suppose an agent afloat show could work--at least they'd be getting back to Navy stuff.

But I remember a good while back (at least a year, maybe two) there was a thread in the Future of Trek forum about casting a new captain and I dropped his name.

I'm not saying; I'm just saying.

I also agree this year has been really sub-par. If it can't do something really drastic, then it's probably time to hang-up the Gibbs slap.

I'm still hoping for Diane Neal.

Though, if they really want to go crazy, I think they should bring in Bell. They can even slip in a joke about how she tried being an Army ...Err... Navy wife and just couldn't hack it.

Tony is definitely one of my favorite characters on NCIS and one of the reasons why I watch the show. It won't be the same without him. In fact, I am not sure if the show will continue long without him since he is so integral to the show's chemistry.

I do hope they give him a happy ending like having him marry Ziva. I don't want the character to die, although the writers do seem to love to do that with this show.

Yes, NCIS wont be the same. But Tony is way overdue for his own team. I believe it has been nine years or so since Jenny offered him his own team in Spain.

He should be able to land a nice assignment now. I'd also say the same for McGee and a bigger job for Abby (the lab at Quantico)

As for Ziva, I always thought after a few months, she left Israel as there isn't much she can do and I can't see her go back to Mossad with her father dead. I believe it was mentioned that Director David made some enemies from the inside in his rise to director. Some of those may make it miserable for Ziva if she goes back.

I'd have Tony leave to lead a team in an area where Ziva is.

I'd wonder who would take his place. One might be quick to say McGee. While he's capable, McGee is too much of a computer geek and kind of a comic relief (less so in recent seasons though). At least Tony mentioned McGee's obsession with jet packs in yesterday's episode.

I read 1-2 weeks ago they are adding two new full time cast members to the show. Maybe they knew this was coming way before we did.

Agreed, but I think it likely they reunite him with Ziva somehow.

At this point, the episode that showed how great a team leader he'd be was 5-6 years ago - long past time for him to have taken on that type of role permanently story-wise.

The show's been on so long you can pretty much predict what each character will say/do in any given situation and rarely be wrong.

Tony was my favorite character on the show for the first six or so seasons, but the longer the show went on the more of a caricature the poor guy became. :(

They could just have her play a different character. They did that with Zoe McLellan and the world didn't explode...

Jeanne Benoit intruded upon Tony's life a few weeks ago.

She actually was the love of his life.

Ziva was just all anticipation and expectation.

For all their love for each other, Tony and Ziva, they might as well be brother and sister.

NINJA!!!!!

Aw he was like the Daniel Jackson of the series.

It's funny I keep thinking how similar Gibbs and DiNozzo are to Stargate SG-1's Jack and Daniel

Someone should start a hashtag campaign. #letTonylive

Threaten to not watch the new Star Trek if he dies. ;)

It would've been neater if she'd been playing Coates.
