NCIS franchise

So that happened.
is Mariel Molino done?

the cliff hanger reminds me of the season 1 ending of NCIS when they boot Sasha Alexander

The showrunners aren't saying anything one way or the other in their season finale interviews, but Molino seems to think her time on the show has come to an end.

I would be surprise if there is a 2nd season. I thought among all the NCIS series, this is the worst. I can't watch a series when 2 main character is so stiff, like watching 2 angry men, being angry all the time. And then there is the setting of the 1970's. The era doesn't resonate w/ modern day viewers

Then be surprised. The show was officially renewed for a second season back on February 20 and CBS ran a brief promo for the second season during the season finale's broadcast last night.

This season of the show spans the years 1991 and 1992.

Hm OG NCIS didn’t record on my PVR last night. I have it set to record on CBS, so I doubt it was the election

Origins recorded fine

Edit: oh I have NCIS recording on global not CBS, so it was the election.

I question if you even watch the shows you talk about, because you constantly get details wrong

then how can the not have internet in that era? and still use pager? where's their Motorola tac cellular phone

because the internet really didn't start to take off until the mid 90s in part due to the development of html and the worldwide-web.

the time Origins is set BBS systems were still king and but they were all stand alone.

closest thing to what we we know to day was e-mail and usernet news group (personal experience)

Wut? There was no internet in 1991, at least not like there is today, that didn't really start until around 1994. Indeed, fun fact, Star Trek Generations, released in 1994 was the first movie ever to have its own website.

Why shouldn't they be using pagers? Pagers continued to be widely used even as cell phones began becoming commonplace in the mid and late 90s. The movie Volcano released in 1997 had a product placement deal to showcase a new model of pager released that year.

Motorola tac cellphones were still relatively new in 1991, having only been just released in 1989. But this show does make it clear NIS isn't well funded, so it stands to reason they're not getting the newest or best toys at this point.

Regardless, the date 1991 was mentioned in all this show's promotional material and was mentioned in onscreen dialogue and seen on surveillance tape footage until the more recent episodes began using 1992. Plus, if one follows NCIS lore, than Gibbs and his first wife get married in the 1980s and his daughter was born in 1984. Plus the Origins season finale features Lara Macy who was featured in the OG NCIS episode Legend (which was also the backdoor pilot for NCIS Los Angeles) where it was stated that Gibbs and Macy last met seventeen years earlier. Given that episode aired in 2009, that would mean they last met in 1992.

So, I really don't see where you got this idea the show is supposed to be set in the 1970s.

You're overlooking the biggest of evidence - Gibbs serving in the first gulf war when he gets the news that his wife and daughter had died.

Yeah, I was just pulling examples off the top of my head, but you're right, I did forget that and it's pretty significant. Though related to that, I remember one of the first times it was brought up Gibbs was a Marine sniper, he was asked if he served in Vietnam, to which Gibbs scoffs with "I'm not that old."

Incidentally, we have seen flashbacks on Origins showing Franks did serve in Vietnam in his youth.
