NCC-2000-A?

An interest I have. I've never seen anything in canon, or in fan fiction yet that mentions an "Excelsior-A". Anyone know of there's one in any novels yet?

Thanks.

The fan fiction film series Star Trek: Hidden Frontier has a Galaxy-class variant named Excelsior NCC-77246 captained by Elizabeth Shelby. Episodes can be downloaded at http://www.hiddenfrontier.com/.

I have seen computer models of Sovereign-class ships with the name Excelsior and the NCC-2000-A registry. So long ago though I don't have links to the models.

With this I'm not really worried about Fan-fic stories. Thanks though :]
This is essentialy reference for something I'm working on and needed to know if
there was already a credible line out there on the "A".

Oh and on Shelby; I follow Peter David's storyline for her ;]

Sorry, I misunderstood your question.

Oh no, you're fine. I'm basicaly just curious if any major writings have been done, or if ever in canon, an Excelsior-A was brought up or mentioned. I am brainstorming a story and for it I want to use the "A". That's all. :)

One reason why HF would confuse the heck out of me.
Shelby has the Trident....

Erm...that was a while back, Mueller is CO of the Trident now and Shelby is an Admiral and CO of Space Station Bravo in sector 221-G.

Here's the deal. I am putting together a storyline for a crew I've been developing for about the last 8 years. I want to use an Excelsior class ship. Either I'll name it Calypso(Also my cars name ) or Excelsior-A.

Reasons for either one.

Calypso: Leaves me to create a new history and myth for a starship name and crew of my own design.

Excelsior-A: Allows me to use a ship name with a prestigious history behind it without stepping on the toes of possible future Enterprise's.

I've always seen Excelsior as the next rung down from Enterprise in terms of renown and place in the fleet. And there has been no future ships named Excelsior or events shown involving it, unlike the Enterprise.

Thoughts?

I vote Calypso, there are too many fan fiction Excelsiors out there.

Been thinking about it since you posted, and did some reading online and such. I think I'll go with Calypso for the story. Thanks for the input.

Unless anyone has anything else to add, this thread can be closed.

A seventh season episode of TNG mentions the Excelsior. Given the episode takes place in 2370 and the Excelsior was commissioned in 2285, I have my doubts it's the same ship. So the possibility exists for at least a second ship named Excelsior in canon.

IRC, Okuda stated that, as far as he and the encylopedia are concerned, the Excelsior mentioned in TNG is the NCC-2000 not a second ship. The reasoning being that we didn't see or hear about about the fate of the first ship, therefore TNG's Excelsior is the TOS-MOV Excelsior.
