NCAA Football 2015

Games start this week! It's kinda snuck up on me this year.

The season usually starts slow anyway. My own GT is playing Alcorn State as their home opener. Looking at the rest of the schedule for the weekend, there's not too many decent games. Anyone see any good matchups?

(And I still don't see the point of pre-season rankings.)

None great, no. First week tends to be a little dull, doesn't it?

FCS is where it's at. A thrilling Montana win over North Dakota State last week.

Villanova @ Connecticut - Villanova has a great shot at "upsetting" UConn
New Hampshire @ San Jose State - another possible upset
Richmond @ Maryland - again, some evenly matched teams despite the division difference
and then my Jacksonville State Gamecocks take on the Chattanooga Mocs in a Top 10 Matchup.

Alabama and Wisconsin is the only decent Top 25 game.

USC opens against a crappy Arkansas State team and scores 55 on them while both the offensive and defensive lines look shaky. This past Saturday they play an Idaho team that puts on one of the worst displays of "college" football I have seen in many years and the Trojans score 59.

Bottom line, only thing we know for sure about No. 8 USC is that they have great quarterbacking and more depth in terms of talent, at running back than I've ever seen. Next week against Stanford will tell us more.

On a lighter note: my alma mater, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (Ca.), playing on the road, in it's first game against a Pac 12 opponent, ties up Arizona State at halftime at 21 and finally gives it up in the 4th quarter to lose 35-21. Scared the hell out of Arizona State. I'll bet the Sun Devils are doing wind sprints around the goal posts right this minute.

Go Mustangs! :)

I'll finally get to see a USC game this weekend.

Stupid DirecTV/Pac 12 Network BS....

:scream:

For the first time in a decade, I have high hopes of my Gamecocks winning the FCS championship. I dare anyone to beat us.

Obviously Sark has a serious problem, so I hope he gets the help he needs.

Having said that, I'm glad he's gone. It was the right thing for several reasons.

I didn't hear why Spurrier left so suddenly. Is he having health problems, or...??

I think Spurrier is just leaving to avoid being embarrassed any further.

I bet USC wishes they had Ed Orgeron on the sideline right now.

This is in reference to the idiotic - and unfortunately all-too-common - hyper reactive social media posts that came out after the punt debacle in the Michigan loss to Michigan St. It was an unreal play to be sure and heartbreaking as well... but it makes the wars we wage in our geekish fan circles less unique.

Un-flipping- believeable. :(

And in case you have not yet seen the play:

The internet is full of overly dramatic keyboard warriors who say stupid hurtful things without consequence?

Who knew?

;)

I feel bad for him.

I watched that entire game, and I will say that ending was one of the most stunning plays I have ever seen in any sport. The odds of all of that happening for Michigan State must have been astronomical.

A few days late, but.... Holy crap what a stunner of an ending for FSU/GT! Okay, GT's season is still crap but this makes it a little easier to take.

LSU looks to drop some. The folks down there build the SLS that Marshall designed--but if you squint--the orange foam begins to look Crimson.

At any rate--I'm convinced Saban is Harrison Ford's somewhat grumpier parasitic twin.
