NCAA Football 2014

To those yahoos that run the whole " FSU was overrated" garbage, I ask this: when was the last time your favorite team won 29 games in a row? ;)

I watched one FSU game from star to finish. The Notre Dame game.

They gave it to FSU.

How many other come from behind wins, even as a hard core fan do you think you should have won?

http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-14/acc/2014-florida-state-seminoles-football-schedule.php

I wish they would have lost a game so we could have seen TCU v Ducks.

Can't knock winning on the field, so I don't think they shouldn't have been there, but they were the weakest of the 4 by far and I do think TCU is a better football team.

If my team was undefeated and a conference champ, I'd say they should be there too, even if I knew they were going to lose.

I watched yesterday's game and didn't see the heart of a champion in FSU. They quit.

A fitting tribute to their classless idiot quarterback. His comments in the post game interview should cement him as a 5th round draft pick.

I also lost a little respect for Jimbo Fisher. When Winston lost it on the sideline in the 3rd, yelling at the HC etc, Jimbo should have benched him.

Try watching more games.... and by the way offensive pass interference was the RIGHT call, and one that should have been called on the Irish earlier in the game. The Irish got away with that one, and it resulted in a touchdown. You can't block as an WR before the ball has been caught.

In the end - wins HAVE to count for something, otherwise the whole thing is just a subjective mess.

In each of their come from behind wins, FSU was the best team on the field. Their defense made adjustments, the offense settled down and stopped shooting themselves in the foot, etc.
They proved they were winners over and over and over. They deserved to play, and if you think TCU would have had a better chance at beating Oregon, you're crazy. The Ducks are a massively talented, well oiled machine, and will likely win the whole enchilada.

Last night FSU did give up, and a lot of that rides on Winston. He will stay and play another season, as he needs to mature.
Jimbo has done a magnificent job managing a volatile youth, and there was no reason for him to bench Winston. You don't take out your Heisman winner and replace him with Sean Maguire.

Calling him a classless idiot however shows you have bought into the ESPN smear job. Repeat after me... HE. IS. A. KID. He is from some BFE Alabama who has been under a microscope for well over a year thanks to him stupidly taking a drunk girl back to his apartment. Every little thing he says and does has been analyzed and reanalyzed and blown out of proportion. For heaven's sake ESPN had three paid 'investigators' going through every file the TPD had on the Seminoles team, and they stayed in Tally for over a year! Name me one other program that received that much attention for that long.

Please, don't start with calls. We can break out any tape and make a case for any team in any game. Not my point. I didn't have a dog in that fight and Notre Dame looked like the better team to me.

I agree. That's why I said they should have been there.

Not crazy... this FSU team isn't as talented. They lost too much talent last year. The Ducks ARE awesome, and weren't that "oiled" in the first half. Look at the penalties they committed keeping FSU drives alive. Yesterday's score could have easily been worse.

We'll see. If I'm Jimbo, do I want another season of that? You REALLY think Winston is going to change? Really?

If he knew what was best for Winston he would have. He has no respect for authority and Jimbo just said it's OK, to go off on your head coach. It wasn't just Jimbo he went off on either, refs, other coaches.... anyone with a heartbeat.

Jedi, it's not ESPN. There are 1000's of kids that don't steal. He is just another "bigger faster stronger" spoiled punk. He's never been told no in his life. Name me another quarterback that carries himself like Winston. ESPN didn't raise the issues, they investigated them and they DID linger forever down there.

If you want to blame ESPN, blame them for putting a freshman on the pedestal last year (same with Johnny football). Another reason why a freshman should never win the Heisman.

I was glad when he was found not guilty in that "rape" thing. All I could think of was the Duke Lacrosse team.

We'll see if he ends up like Vince Young or not. Now that he's lost, let's see what his character is going forward. I'm not rooting against the kid.

I wasn't the one that sat in front of the cameras and said, "be real, we gave it to them" instead of giving credit to the Ducks.

It will be interesting for sure. FSU with or without him is going to be pretty damn good next year.

Entitled sports stars are a problem that is not unique to FSU. Winston is a volitile kid, one who's talents and maturity are far from balanced. That is also not unique to FSU. One hopes that he does not go to the NFL, or else he may end up just as much of a bust as Johnny Football (what a ridiculous nickname).

I think Jimbo knows how to recruit and manage his team, and the proof of that is plain to see.

As to next year's team I agree. They have amazing talent coming down the pipeline.

True, but Winston is.

I hope he grows up, whether it's another year at FSU or not.

We'll agree to disagree about Jimbo WRT to Jamis. IMO you can't allow what I saw on TV yesterday.

Winston didn't play all that terribly if I'm being honest and I hate FSU. It looked like he was under tremendous pressure by the pass rush the entire game and it seemed at times like he was the only player who seemed to give a crap out there. The fumble wasn't that big of a deal, he slipped on the ground and lost his footing in a backpeddle while once again under pressure. The FSU running game wasn't consistent enough to be a true threat. The constant drive killing fumbles by his receivers put them in a big hole and made the game more lopsided than it should have been. No way Winston is getting benched. Sorry, but that is just silly fan talk.

All things being said it appears that the selection committee got it right with the final four. Bad bowl weeks for the SEC and the Big 12.

The most hilarious thing is that Danny Kannell was right a few months ago with his SEC comments that got him lambasted.

Regarding the ND-FSU game... the call was regarded as being technically correct, yet rarely called in those situations. That was the controversy

As for Oregon vs Ohio St... I can easily see why the line is this big (currently 7), but then the line against Bama started out at 9 or 9 1/2. You have to favor Oregon for sure. They've proven they are firmly entrenched in the upper echelon of college football's glamor teams. And they have a scary offense, along with a greatly underrated defense.

However, Ohio St is an underdog for the third straight game yet came out a solid victor in the first two. Their run defense is what concerns me the most right now... even after they completely shut down Melvin Gordon. But they have a deep defense, especially on the d-line. THeir offense has some serious ability to rotate. Plus Oregon has had beau coups de injuries on the OL. So it's going to be fun. OSU does not turn the ball over much these days. THey are well-coached, and seem to have a solid psyche right now.

It's going to be a worthy game, for sure!

I never said he played bad.

A leadership problem?

Agree

FSU didn't fumble early and couldn't put it in the end zone. The fact is they couldn't stop the Ducks

ESPN is in love with the SEC.

Could it be that the selection committee chose their original 4 knowing it would flush out?

The issue isn't with Winston's maturity, it's that he's a goddamn rapist. FSU and the authorities had him dead to rights and they intentionally tanked the investigations. I will immediately lose all respect for whichever team drafts him.

I'm glad Jameis lost. He's a rapist, thief, and moron who Fisher, the fanbase, and police have bent over backwards for to ensure a national title. Oregon ought to run all over Ohio State. I'm think 48-20

Oregon players better lay off the blunts or they won't be able to field a team Monday Night....

How stupid is that. Big game of your life and you are now ineligible because of Marijuana.

Despite that though I still think Oregon wins, but I'm just happy we're getting a non-SEC Championship game. It's a shame it's not being played at the Rose Bowl.

Wow!

Ohio State is playing a helluva game so far....

Very impressive despite the turnovers.

All the props in the world to Mariota. Class on and off the field

Those turnovers were what I thought would lead to an Oregon rout... but the overall line play on both offense and defense made up for it. I figured OSU would score plenty but had no idea the defense would do as well as they did.

My prediction for the national championship game?

I think Ohio State wins the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and wins a close game.

Ahem....

Next?

The gimmick that is hurry up football was exposed.

The Ducks got punched in the mouth and couldn't punch back.

The Buckeyes turned the ball over 4 times and still won by 22. This could have and probably should have been really ugly.

Good night for the B1G Ten.

Congrats Ohio State.

Now, as a PSU fan, I now have to come to the realization that this OSU team is young and we have to play them at the Horseshoe next year...

Congrats to Ohio State and the Big Ten. They showed that football is about more than speed and fancy uniforms.

Way to represent the Pac 12, Ducks, again!

I kept jumping in and out of that game. I don't care one way or the other for either team, but I love the way Ohio State was running the ball.
Side note, Twitter kind of blew up because of the ref that looked like Bob Newhart. That was amusing...

Reports are that Penn State and the NCAA are in talks (some say it's a done deal, others say it's still being negotiated) to restore Joe Paterno's vacated wins.

Whenever you can restore honors to make fans of a dead child rape enabler happier, I guess that’s something you've gotta do. Or something. I mean, the NCAA is Literally The Worst, but holy shit.
