NCAA Football 2014

What I cannot understand is how Florida State University has not assigned several people (call them student assistants, tutors, whatever) to monitor his activities and "assist" him in maintaining proper decorum.

Like he would listen, after last year he knows nothing will happen to him no matter what he does, that's fsu, they look the other way no matter what.

How about Mississippi State running all over LSU tonight?

I really love college football.

:techman:

Well, Jameis Winston is an idiot.

Is there any particular reason he was allowed to still be on the sidelines, occasionally walk ONTO THE FIELD without getting a sideline warning, instead of being forced to sit at home and watch the game on TV like any normal suspended player would be required to do? As for the game itself...

I've often said that the first 55 minutes of a Florida State game are largely irrelevant. One year, they were playing Georgia Tech on what I'm remembering was a Thursday night ESPN game. With about 5:00 showing on the clock, the score read: Georgia Tech 10, Florida State 0. Naturally, two quick touchdowns later and the Seminoles were 14-10 winners. No matter how much they mess up before those last five minutes, FSU almost always seems to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. It's annoyingly predictable. I knew tonight would be no different. They certainly had help this time. Clemson did everything within their power to give that game away. And they succeeded.

Florida State tried to lose that game too. Two big INTs, an incomprehensible offensive game plan, etc. They just weren't as good at losing as Clemson. By the way, being able to win despite adversity is how you define champions. :) Go Holes!

And that's another thing. They ought to dig out the archival footage of Clemson's 1981 national championship season, just to give these kids the idea of how not to keep blowing it on the big stage.

Oh, believe me, I haven't forgotten that rule. It's how my Tennessee Vols won it all in 1998, with close games against Syracuse, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi State... and Florida State!!! ;)

Watching the Vols these past two years has been great. We've not won as many games as I would like, but the team is paying with heart. Under Dooley that was nonexistent. I think that another few years under Butch Jones the Vols will be serious contenders.

Oregon goes down
Oklahoma loses
Bama loses
Wisconsin loses

All in the same weekend.

This tells me that the pollsters still can't get it right

Sports people whining about FSU being a "soft number 1 team". Haha

You know what soft is? Losing, like Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.

UCLA went down late last night as well.

That leaves FSU, TCU, Baylor, Notre Dame, Auburn and Georgia Tech as the power 5 unbeatens.

Aside from my Trojans completely losing their minds, yesterday was an astonishingly good day in college football.

The playoff committee may end up looking at 10 teams at 11-1.

ND @ FSU last night was one of the best football games period that I've seen in a long time. That was fantastic, and both teams gave it all they had. Glad FSU won.

Glad to see Ohio State winning again, but I suppose they're not really playing anyone. We'll how well their D holds up against some of the tougher division opponents, like MSU, coming up.

Notre Dame and FSU was a fantastic game, and I am happy with the result. FSU is a tough team, and they took on a tough team and wore them down. I know ESPN is too busy giving the SEC a BJ to notice, but FSU isn't going anywhere.

See y'all in the playoffs.

Anyone else see the end of the Auburn/Ole Miss game? If not, you've probably seen countless replays of it. My wife and I couldn't watch past the first replay. :ack:

We're happy of course that Auburn won, but we really feel bad for Ole Miss' Laquon Treadwell. An injury like that is no way to end a season, not to mention the possibility of it being career-ending. And he didn't even get the game-winning touchdown that he thought he got.

Colorado State snuck into the AP top 25 poll this week. This pleases me. :D 9-1 record, only loss was to Boise State.

Around the horn in the FCS:

North Dakota St had their 33 game winning streak snapped.
My very own Jacksonville State Gamecocks will move up to #3 as they take on the Panthers of Eastern Illinois on Saturday. With a win, they will lock up the OVC. Shouldn't have any trouble beating them or the punching bag that is SEMO.
