NCAA Football 2008 Discussion - It All Starts Here.

Wasn't that an incredible play? And the best part was it's vintage Joe Tiller, in his last season as Purdue coach.

On a different note, while watching the Pitt / ND game, I saw for the second time today ... a quarterback sack... on a frelling 3-man rush!!!

Purdue 48, Michigan 42.

Vaughn, I am definitely NOT trying to rag on the Wolverines, but there are a couple of notes that have to be made here. With the loss today, two incredible streaks by Michigan are ended: 1.) 33 straight bowl appearances and 2.) 40 straight winning seasons. That's some serious success and consistency.

Now it's on to the Florida/Georgia game.....

Yeah, it's been a very disappointing season this year. There have been glimpses of what this team can be under Rich Rod, but nothing solid yet. At least Michigan scored some points today.

However, a win over Ohio State would make this entire season feel better...

My parents went to the Army-Air Force game, so they have officially seen football games at all football-playing military academies. :bolian:

Really? They've seen Coast Guard play?

As to Florida-Georgia: That was a thoroughly enjoyable beatdown.

I think three or four years from now you're gonna be laughing all the way to the national championship game, CV. If RR is given free rein, he'll be able to bring far more athletes to UM than he ever did WVU. They'll be an SEC-like speed juggernaut in just a few years, crushing Ohio State year in and year out.

At least, that's the plan. :techman:

Hey, the Coast Guard Academy Bears ARE a Division III team, being a member of the New England Football Conference (NEFC). Go Bears!

^Typo, meant DII.

I mean, if you're going to include the Coast Guard (and, for the record, my Dad has been to their games - he grew up in Old Lyme, which is next to New London) you might as well include the prep schools and VFMA&C, which the networks don't do when they say 'football-playing military academies.'

ETA: Texas Tech is looking good so far!

By 'football-playing military academies' I was referring to those academies who play Div III and up. As you knew.

Actually, I don't really concern myself with what you might mean, as opposed to asking a question based on what you actually wrote.

And I would have responded to "My dad has," with a sincere "Cool!" and that would have been it.

Coast Guard is a football-playing academy, supplying officers for one of the five major branches of the military. Thus, my question was a valid one. I'm an Air Force vet, and my immediate thought was, "Wonder if his parents have seen Coast Guard play, too?" It was not meant to trip you up.

You make a good point about The Citadel and VMI, though. I hadn't even considered them.

I guess you meant teams who compete for the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy.

Hey, you know it's only a matter of time until some Big 10 team schedules the Coast Guard Academy.

Well, I suppose if you guys are going to have delusions, you might as well go for the truly satisfying ones. ;)

Are Texas Tech fans the dumbest group of people on the planet? How stupid are you to rush the field TWICE before the game's over?

Pssst.... as I pointed out earlier, it's the SEC that schedules more non-BCS teams than anybody else. ;)

Tech wins, despite the astonishing stupidity of their coach.

When you're up five, you go for TWO, moron.

I'm going to bookmark that post Neroon, cuz it will come back to haunt you.

And congrats to Texas Tech, what a fucking game that was!
