NCAA Football 2008 Discussion - It All Starts Here.

Kansas won. I was surprised at how Penn State struggled myself though. I'm beginning to think Purdue is a little better than people give them credit for.

Tonight will be an interesting test for Pryor, but he's done OK so far and I'm sure he'll continue to improve. That can only mean good things for OSU in the couple of seasons.

No real upsets to speak of yet today, which is kind of interesting in and of itself.

Congrats Turbo!

Either Digits or I are going to be bummed later. I suspect it will be me. It's tough to imagine Oregon beating USC at the Coliseum, let alone USC losing two games in a row. The forecast calls for rain though and that might help the Ducks. They're used to playing in the rain.

Looks like Kentucky got off the mat and is going toe-to-toe with the Bad Boys of Bama.

Okay... Bama has this game locked up. BUT... Kentucky lost this game every bit as much as Bama won it. The Tide is very fortunate. Their second touchdown was a literal gift from the Ky offense. And there have been some stupid, stupid penalites at the worst possible moment.

Glad Cal won but it should have been by a bigger score. There were a lot of opportunities wasted in this game and it just felt like "one of those games." At least they have a win going into another bye. Pity it probably won't get them into the top 25 or anything.

It's sure beginning to like the PAC-10 isn't going to have seven bowl eligible teams this year.

Congrats to Kentucky, they played one hell of a game.

I thought the offense was so-so, but I was very impressed by the defense and the special teams. Our kicker made some game winning punts where he just nailed it inside their five that really killed a lot of their time.

Holy crap!

The first quarter looked like USC/Oregon State II.

Then, the dam broke....

A stupid penalty by the Ducks, then they get greedy in their own territory.

USC runs off 24 straight points to finish the half.

Wow.

:techman:

PS: How about Vanderbilt? Nice game.

Alabama did not look impressive, but still pulled out the victory.

Seriously, you gotta love college football.

The Vanderbilt/Auburn game was a good one. Congrats to the Commodores for proving they deserve to be ranked.

I don't see Oregon digging themselves out of the hole they're in. Not without some serious help.

This is the Achilles Heal of that style of offense. It's hard to come back.

Was that last two minutes incredible or what?

Well, maybe not for you, but....

;)

Best of luck in the second half.

GO TROJANS!!!!

Sorry, Mallory. :(

I was at the 'Bama game today. Too many penalties, too many turnovers, not enough passing offense. Still, a W is a W. Plus, Saban gets to kick his team's butt for two weeks over this one.

Ah well, the rest of the Oregon's games are winnable although I expect ASU, Cal and OSU to be challenging. At best, a 9-2 record. At worst, still six wins and a bowl game somewhere.

I really think that while Bama definitely made mistakes, Kentucky made far more significant ones. Eliminate maybe two, and they could have won. Even so, I admire BOTH teams for not giving up. That Kentucky defense is for real. And so is the Tide defense as well.

Now on to the OSU/Wisconsin game.... helluva game! Pryor faced one tough, tough situation in playing a very good Badger team, on the road, at night. He had some scary, floating throws. BUT... he made good decisions for the most part. And Beanie..... damn. What a stud. If he doesn't miss 2 1/2 games from injury, I am convinced he's in New York at the Downtown Athletic Club later this year.

True. I remember a day when six wins wasn't enough to secure a bowl game. Now, there are too many. However, if anyone should feel like they accomplished anything by making it to a bowl, it would be Oregon. Aren't they on their fifth(!)-string QB?

Yeah, I think Mallory said they were last week, so I suspect this week was more of the same.

Great win by the Trojans tonight.

:techman:

Hopefully Sanchez is okay to go next week.
