Was that slow start more USC's fault or Stanford's doing? I could see both being the cause, but given what happened last year I'd think USC would be well guarded against any overconfidence
Many USC fans are rooting for Oregon State to win out and go to the Rose Bowl. They are tired of facing big-10 teams in the Rose Bowl and want to go to Sugar Bowl or Fiesta Bowl to face an SEC or big-12 team. The flaw in that is that if USC doesn't go to the Rose Bowl then they are not guaranteed to be in another BCS bowl game, though the odds are they will get that chance if they finish 11-1.
I am fine with going to the Rose Bowl as long as we face JoePa and Penn State, which is the most likely scenario. I don't want to see a rematch with Ohio State, especially since we play them again next year. An Oregon State-Penn State rematch in the Rose Bowl is not that interesting either.
I remember that year. It was indeed an odd thing to have the same two teams playing a second time in the year. But I wouldn't call it being "robbed". You can't guarantee that FSU wins against anyone else that might have gone instead of Florida. Plus, if the Gators had a second look at the Seminoles game, then the reverse is true as well.
