That's fucking pathetic, seriously. I should become a tv executive, I could do a hundred times better than the morons who run NBC today.

NBC's top brass took questions on a conference call: telemovie wrap-ups for Heroes and Law & Order are being discussed, but nothing's finalized yet.

Sheesh, they should have just hung onto Heroes. :rommie: Here's my knee-jerk prognostication:

The Event - Could be great if handled well. But big-conspiracy stories tend to sputter into silliness and convolutedness more often than they succeed.

Chase - Generic cop show crap. Hope it fails quickly.

Undercovers - I have a hunch this isn't remotely going to live up to the hype.

L&O: LA - Snore. But it will probably do well.

Outsourced - Don't care one way or the other. The subject matter is generating a fair amount of online hostility already, though.

Love Bites - Generic romantic comedy. Hope it fails quickly.

School Pride - Reality TV. No interest.

Outlaw
- Generic lawyer show. Hope it fails quickly.

Harry's Law - Ditto.

The Cape
- James Frain will steal the show and we'll all wish it were about him instead of the boring lead actor.

They might have two survivors out of that lineup.

Here are the videos.

Hey remember the Day One video last year and how horrible that was? :rommie: Let's see if there's anything that bad this time around.

Hard to tell anything from The Cape clip, but it's not a good sign that it starts off in such a business-as-usual manner: KABOOM! But of course he isn't really dead. Too bad they don't seem to feature Frain in any of the clips they have posted.

Chase - Completely generic action. Why do they think they can sell a show with stuff we've seen a million times before? I got too bored to even finish watching the two-minute clip. :rommie:

The Event - Now this looks fun. Danko is eeevil bwahaha! John Ritter's kid is cute and seems to have enough charisma to carry the show. The idea of the 97 prisoners is sorta intriguing. I suspect I'll watch this one long after the point where it's become crap. :D

Friends with Benefits - Got ten seconds into it before bailing!

Harry's Law
- Patent law is boring, and so are you! Bye!

Love Bites - 15 secs and done.

Outsourced - 30 secs. Condescending and uncomfortable to watch, but not in a good way. :wtf:

Perfect Couples - 7 secs and gone!

School Pride - 10 secs, who cares about reality TV crap.

Undercovers - more generic action. Pass.

Verdict: Nothing as painfully bad as Day One, but a whole lot of very vanilla stuff here. The Event is the only one that looks like it might be worth following.

Funny thing, I came up with that idea for The Cape several years ago, under the title Night-Spectre, except that it was about a criminal psychiatrist named Kurt McKlellan who became a masked hero when one of his former patients turned into a child-abducting serial killer called Hypno-Man. (He tried to hypnotize people with lasers but just ended up blinding them.)

eh, nothing stands out... but hey, everyone's got different tastes, so who knows what'll take off and what won't.

Only thing I think I will watch on NBC is football, 30 Rock and Parks and Rec. Nothing else really stands out.
