Man remember when John Black had that chip in his body controlling his brain and everyone was at a wedding or a funeral or something and John hit the side of his head and the chip popped out of his neck and he became good again?

Classic SciFi!

Yeah DooL was great back then--Vivian burying Carly alive, Vivian's near lobotomy, Vivian and Kate's feud resulting in her implanting Kate's embryo in herself, the Paris underground arc, The Lady in White in Aremid, Tony dying and framing John for his own suicide, Kristen and her multi-role storyline playing a hick her Susan her triplet hick sister who was a nun and her triplet brother in an attempt to keep John, Peter, Hope/Princess Gina, Stefano putting a mood altering chip in Vivian's tooth to make her bi-polar, Marlena being possessed.
I must be blind because I looked up and down that list at least three times and did not see Days Of Our Lives. Definitely hard to defend it but my mom raised me on it in the early 80s and I watched pretty faithfully until around 2003ish. I haven't had cable or an antenna that will pick up NBC in years so I have no idea what it's like now, but I'd agree with the late 80s/90s being the best period.
It isn't on the list but I figured since he included Passions in the list DOOL was fair game too so I included it.

Right now it is garbage--its budget has been drastically cut and the sets look like ones from a high school production and all the interesting storylines from that the 80s/90s are just being recycled to worse effect--baby swaps, faked pregnancies involving pregnancy pads, look-a-likes and switcheroos, burying people alive etc.

Unless Marlena is evil and Stefano and John Black are trying to kill each other, I am not at all interested in "Days of Our Lives."
Due to the massive budget cuts that were part of keeping it on the air they could no longer afford Deidre Hall or Drake Hogestyn and they were let go 2 years ago. Joseph Mascolo is still there but has been defanged and rarely has much of anything to do-instead the Brady/DiMera feud has been pathetically reduced to his son that he sired with Susan from that wonderfully wacky late 90s Susan/Kristen storyline:EJ--Elvis Junior and Marlena's daughter Sami and it sucks!

^No kidding! I used to watch it with my mom during summer vacation from school, so I have to say I'm a bit behind. The only characters I ever really cared about were Stefano, John and Marlena, Belle and Shawn, and Beau and Hope. The show was randomly on at the gym a few weeks ago, and I saw that Hope was in jail for something.

Yes the Hope jail storyline is beyond stupid--she broke up with Bo had trouble sleeping so she took some sleep medication ended up causing her to wake up at night with an altered persona that was a manhater and so she attacked men and took their wallets--she ultimately tried to kill Bo by setting him on fire. But even though it was the medication that made her act out she insisted on pleading guilty(due to really bad writing) and was sentenced to prison and while she was there she unearthed na organ stealing ring headed by the warden and an inmate who was a doctor. So Bo broke her out to save her life and they are on the run.

The writers heard about fans complaining about how lame they treated Stefano so they decided to give him some bite by being behind the whole organ crime ring--I'm not sure that would exactly be something Stefano would do--his evil actions usually are the result of a personal connection to those he victimizes--I just don't see him ordering young female prisoners with no families that care for them to be murdered for body parts.

Well, I did watch Keith Oberman, untill they gave him his walking papers... I would still watch him. He was much more, "Fair and Balanced" than most others Talking Heads!

Without John and Marlena, Stefano seems kind of pointless.

I couldn't stand him--he was like a liberal doppelganger of O'Reilly--his show was all about Olbermann, Olbermann, Olbermann and couldn't stand his stupid facial expressions.

Too bad shows like Capital Gang, pre-ranting Crossfire, Buchanan and Press aren't still around and anchors/commentators like Judy Woodruff, Bernie Shaw, Aaron Brown and Jeff Greenfield have long since exited.
