NBC is reviving Heroes

From Variety:

NBC teased a plan to revive the “Heroes” franchise as an event miniseries next year during Saturday’s telecast of Olympics coverage.

The brief spot featured a fade-in on the “Heroes” logo with the word “Reborn” added along with “Coming 2015.”

There had been rumors last year that the Peacock was looking to revive the mystery-fantasy drama, created by Tim Kring, that aired from 2006-2010. Kring is set to exec produce 13 new episodes.

“The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening,” said NBC Entertainment prexy Jennifer Salke. “Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

The original show went from Awesome to Shit faster than anything else I've seen. While I don't doubt the ability of this new installment to be worth watching, I'm not exactly pumped about it.

Yeah, not exactly excited about this. The original started out so well and then went completely down the toilet.

Heroes Reborn? How about Disappointment Reborn?

I thought the idea was for an Xbox Network spinoff?

The show was a failure as soon as the horribly bad / boring / useless season 1 finale. I wouldn't expect much, it's just NBC trying to copy some of 24 press.

I have no qualms with season one, and I'm one of the few who liked season two (it was seasons three and four that went off the rails). That being said, they should've stuck with the original plan: each season focusing on a new set of characters, with the odd appearance by characters from the earlier seasons.

Hopefully, the showrunner knows what the hell is doing this time!

I seriously do not know whether to be excited or horrified. The first season was great, but the show just became one moment of absolute stupidity after another in the subsequent seasons.

JUST saw this on IMDB! This is exciting! Hopefully it will be a soft reboot with all the firs season characters intact!

I wouldn't mind Nathan Petrelli coming back. You know, so they can kill him off for old times sake.

NBC realized that they hadn't succeeded in taking the show all the way down to the absolute lowest levels of suck, and thus their job wasn't finished....

Seriously, if this happens, I hope they pick up where they left off (or a few years after they left off, to account for actual passage of time), and deal with the ramifications of the heroes having been outed.

Well the press release said Tim Kringe is back at the helm, so there's actually no hope that will be the case.

This show was a train wreck. The first season had a ton of potential, 1 or 2 great episodes and then it turned out that everything that happened in the season was leading up the ultimate event of Peter knocking out Sylar with a parking meter.
