NBC FALL 2011-12 SCHEDULE

^^ Yep. @Jax..."Community" is arguably one of NBC's best shows that is ignored by them in terms of promotion. It deserves a much juicier spot than it is in.

Community is far to weak to anchor the night and Parks should be doing the job instead, utter maddness.

I agree that they should be flipped, but I'm happy that they're finally putting them together in one hour (preferably at 9, but whatever). They're a good fit with similar senses of humor and crossover fanbases. That'll be the funniest hour on TV by far, and will save me from having to sit through The Office ever again. :bolian:

For what its worth I should mention Harrys Law, which started January 2011, and on the reality side The Voice.

Still with a hit rate like that, things can only get better, ok they could get worse, but that would be a true disaster.

First it was Poehler who was Pregnant, and now it's Fay who is Pregnant, thus the reason why 30 Rock is a midseason show now. I also think it might be 30 Rock's final season, even though Season 5 was such an improvement over Season 4 and I think they hit creative highs. I am glad they are having Parks and Recreation on as a full season show, as I think it's the best show NBC has currently running.

Coming on what NBC did, I would of done this instead...

Monday
The Biggest Loser (2 hours then 90 mins) - 30 Rock - Prime Suspect

Tuesday
The Sing-Off (2 hours) - The Playboy Club

Wednesday
Up All Night – Free Agents - Grimm - Law & Order: SVU

Thursday
Parks and Recreation - Community - The Office – Whitney - Parenthood

Friday
Chuck - Dateline - Harry's Law

Sunday
Football Night in America - Sunday Night Football

-----------------------

The Biggest Loser can start as 2 hours and then 30 Rock can start a little later due to production starting a little later due to Tine Fey being pregnant.

Jax,

Does NBC have a contingency plan if the NFL remains locked out this Fall? Will Sunday become repeat night, or could they bring back 30 Rock earlier because they have to find something to schedule on Sunday nights?

I also think the NFL is going to have a pretty big impact on this season of shows because that's where a lot of Show advertising goes. No NFL, nobody watching and I think ratings will be down.

If the NFL is delayed then NBC sunday fall nights are in BIG trouble, I've not heard anything about a back up plan. NBC presume the NFL will start as planned and for their sakes I hope it does

Damm that Whitney show looks awful

Just watched the clip for BFFs. Adam Pally plays the husband, but ABC picked up his show Happy Endings for another season, so I wonder what NBC'll do about that.

And Chelsea Handler's show looks pretty painful too.

Chuck, Grimm, The Playboy Club, Awake, and Smash for me.

Our tastes coincide perfectly, that's my schedule too. I love NBC's schedule but I should, since I'm their target market.

Analysis of NBC: they are chasing the upscale, female-skewing audience. This explains, for instance, why Wonder Woman was not picked up to be paired with Chuck and they went with Grimm instead. A magical-inflected cop show with a hot lead actor will attract more women than a superheroine/male fantasy character in a gaudy, revealing costume. (Presumably Jamie Bamber was just not hot enough to get 17th Precinct this gig instead?) :rommie:

So where's Awake on the schedule? Is that going to be slotted in when something gets a midseason cancellation?

I've noticed that, too. Maybe they should pick up Locke & Key from FOX. It would do better on cable, but also fits NBC's strategy perfectly. Presumably FOX remains more male-skewing so a supernatural mystery isn't as good a fit there (that's definitely a female-skewing genre).

I was thinking he was a bit Tom Cruise-ish. The minute I saw him, I thought, "to the extent NBC is going for the ladies, Grimm is in." :rommie:

Now with video. None of the comedies are even remotely funny.

Whitney Cumming's poor show might last half an episode.

I agree about the comedies - couldn't even get thru the previews. Network sitcoms are all just one grey interchangeable mass of unfunny cliche to me.

Playboy Club - Nice atmospherics, hard to tell anything beyond that.

Grimm - Could be too silly, but I'm hopeful.

Prime Suspect
- Generic cop show.

Awake - Intriguing, but I'm still skeptical that the central premise is good for more than one season, tops.

Smash - My cat got up and walked out of the room while the preview was playing. :rommie: My sentiments exactly - if the drama is supposed to be that Katherine McPhee is wowing them with her talent, why throw in the lights and the musical accompaniment that wouldn't be present at an audition? Eh, I'll still check it out but I hope they don't let Idol-ish hooplah overwhelm the characters and story.
