National Treasure 2, observations

ThunderAeroI

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I watched National Treasure 2 the other night and did anyone else notice how the movie followed the same basic pattern as the first one.

Two most notible occurances were.

1). That Reiley knew something the others didn't and gloated about it, and;
2). How there was rube goldburg contraption near the very end.

Um, yeah .. Hello, and welcome to just about every sequel ever made.

Delores is a lounge singer who puts on a habit. With her song-and-dance routine, she helps a group of nuns save a building that's about to be closed down. Through her efforts, the neighborhood comes together to help save the building, and there's a showstopping number at the end.

Sister Act 1 or 2?

Just one example off the top of my noggin.

Why break a formula that works?

More to the point, why make a sequel to a movie if you aren't going to make something that's similar? If it's going to have a different theme and plot layout and tone, you'd make something different.

you dont think there is room to ensure that at the same 56:05 minutes into the movie the same scene is portraid in the sequal.. thats a little odd.

Am I completely insane that at first read, without seeing "Sister Act 1 or 2", I immediately thought "Blues Brothers"? :lol:

I assume English is not your first language, and I also assume that your claim is that 56 minutes into both movie, the same scene is portrayed? Why didn't you just say so instead of being so vague in your original post?

I have seen both but do not own either movie, could you be so kind as to tell us which scenes you are talking about?

because the 56 minutes is an example of how much the two movies are alike. When I watched the movie it felt like the scene was in the same spot in the movie as the first one.

My favorite part of NT2 was Jon Turtletaub's response to what's on page 47:
“I’ll tell you, what is on page 47 is I think the single greatest secret in America today… which is… the plot of Star Trek.”
:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Yeah, funny how sequels are like that.

Yeah Very funny and not that only National Treasure has the same look and feel you could check out Mission Impossible,Rocky,Terminator.All had the same base.That is what you call a series.

But you got to hand to the casting in National Treasure 2, I mean getting Ed Harris to play a villain...for the zillionth time...inspired. Whose gonna play the villain for #3...John Malkovich?
