Damn it. Seems I fell for a con job. Someone edited together footage from a previous web show campaign they collaborated on to make it seem like they were campaigning for a firefly season 2. I did wonder why Joss whedon's name was not brought up. Sorry for the false alarm.

Joss Whedon said more than once if there had ever been a second Firefly movie they would have found a way to work Alan Tudyk into it.So, Alan Tudyk's character is dead, and you weren't suspicious at all?![]()
But no Ron Glass.
I'll think about it. I think I've actually moved on, no matter how much I love the series and film.

Considering how successful a lot of crowdfunding campaigns are that aren't Firefly, I think this would be massively successful if they ever did it for real.
Those are true, although Doctor Who has a built in renewal option so that there's no need for any original cast to come back. Trek made a good success of it through movies and was able to age up the cast appropriately and I suspect it would have been successful if they'd gone ahead with the proposed Phase II series rather than the movies. But Firefly seems different to me. There's so much built in to the story (especially with the movie) so explaining what happened in the last 15 years and why they're all still together would (I think) make it difficult). Are River and Simon still on the run now that her secret has been revealed? Is the central government still in charge now that their crimes have been revealed?Eh, Trek came back after ten years. Doctor Who came back after longer than that. Other franchises have had reunions after similar periods of time, such as Man From UNCLE and Mission: Impossible. I think it would be good to give Firefly a better ending than Serenity.
I was wondering about that when the video started, but then they said webisodes, and that was what made it plausible to me.About how i feel.. Firefly is amazing and one for the ages ruined by studio mismanagement. It's been over 10 years and all actors have long since moved on even if they are very fond and proud of it.
Lay it to rest, bitch about Fox at the usual yearly meeting and throw in a couple of episodes every now and then and enjoy.
When i heard about it this week my eyebrow shot up since Fillion is currently busy doing his (successful) show The Rookie and Tudyk is also not bored i assume so i didn't pay much attention to it. Seems my initial gut feeling was right.
That's the one advantage to doing the books and comics, they can tell stories at any point in the series without having to worry about actor ages or availability.I've got no doubt that a crowdfunding campaign for Firefly would be hugely successful. Just look at how much they raised for the Conman series. But I honestly think the time for a Firefly revival has passed. Too much time has passed and the actors have aged so that there'd have to be a 15 year jump in the series which would leave way too much to be built into the back story.
