Anyway, I agree she was the "best" thing about AOTC. That's not saying much but, still. And yeah between the black dominatrix outfit and the white, torn, battle suit at the end... Yowsa!

Dominatrix outfit.....That's a good description. God, what it must have been like for poor Anakin to see her dressed like that. No wonder he went crazy!

Part of the problem was that practically everyone in the prequels talked with pseudo-Shakespearean formality. Amongst the central trio in II and III, only McGregor seemed to be able to pull it off with any panache.

I'd say the British/Irish actors could handle it really well. The American actors just couldn't. McGregor, Neeson, McDiarmid, & Lee all pulled it off. Christensen, Portman, Lloyd, & Samuel L. Jackson didn't.

I would love to see Knightly and Portman in a film together again.

They should do one together with Scarlett Johansson & Mila Kunis. I give it 4 drools.

Regardless of how well we think Ms Portman acted in the SW prequels, I don't think there's any denying how totally sexy she looked in that black leather dress in AOTC. Anyone agree?

Well, we still say "give them the cold shoulder" even though no one gives you an unheated shoulder of mutton. Film crews still call shots done without sound MOS, even though no one's sure what it means or where it comes from. Some jargon tends to stick around long after its turned anachronistic.

God, her acting was so awful in that film. Christensen's I can understand since he's usually rather weak but Portman gave no fucking effort whatsoever. Since here part was so small in III, it's a rare case where I'd have called for her recasting. Just awful. And then come III Christensen actually did a better job than her.

Who watches Star Wars for the acting?

I watched it for Alec Guinness. Acting like he actually cared about this stuff

Well, she'll always have that Academy Award for "Black Swan" on the mantle, but then, she might not want him to see that performance until he is much older.

And in another defense of the prequels, don't most sci-fi/fantasy films, even those otherwise good, have bad romances?
