I really want to see "The Magicians Nephew" due to Tilda Swinton reprising Jadis and having a starring role again. Plus I think it would be neat to see the creation of Narnia mixed with all the stuff in London.

Overall, I'd give it a B, maybe a B+. I didn't think it was as good as The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but it was better than Prince Caspian.

The only problem I had with it were the creative liberties with the story. I realize that the book is very episodic in nature, with them going from one adventure to the next with little connection between them, but I think it could have worked on screen.

I'm really disappointed the movie isn't doing very well in North America. Hopefully it will make enough for at least The Silver Chair to be made, as that is my favorite of the books.

Dawn Treader has an estimated weekend take of $10.8 million, a 12.8% drop from last weekend (the smallest drop in the Top 15). That brings it to about $64 million domestic and just under $193 million worldwide. Daily numbers should be good throughout the coming week and through New Year's weekend.

i had planned on seeing Dawn Treader again before the new year starts but, it looks like i'll be snowed in for a few days.

Dawn Treader made $25.5 million in international markets over the weekend. Its international gross now stands at $168.6 million and its worldwide gross at $232.5 million.

Those seem like good world wide gross numbers to me to justify another sequel...but who knows what Fox will think.

Most of the weekend actuals dropped a fair amount from the estimates because of snow disruption. Dawn Treader ended up with a weekend actual of $9,478,043 for a domestic total to date of $62.6 million.

Yeah, the snow really put a halt to quite a bit here in NYC. Considering how much of the east coast was affected, it's no surprise that the tallies are lower than expected.

Dawn Treader had a strong Monday take of $3,485,140. That brings its domestic gross to $66,082,170.
I'm optimistic it's going to have some strong weekdays and then one last good weekend over New Years.

Schools are still out. Many take the week off at the end of the year and that Monday total reflects that I think. I think it also reflects that despite the poor marketing by Fox its getting good WOM.

If it can be at $74/75m then go into the weekend and make another $10m like it has the past two weekends it'll be sitting poised to cross $100m US domestic. Which at the outset of its opening weekend looked like a pipedream.

International numbers are only updated once a week rather than daily. The Hollywood Reporter usually has the rundown of the top international earners up on Sundays.

I wonder when we'll get a DVD release announcement? I'm guessing probably not until next month at the soonest. They probably wanna see if they can squeeze another couple weekends out of this movie.

^^^
Not till February at the earliest but I'd say more like March.
It's still a top 5 film currently.
It'll get at least 2 weekends in the top 10 I suspect from January.
After it's been out of the top 10 a few weeks we will be more likely to get a DVD announcement.

March seems too late too me. It won't last in the theaters in North America all the way through Jan. It was already pushed to the last theater in my complex. I'm still sticking with my guess of next month. Feb might be more realistic, and I'm talking about an announcement for the release not the actual release date.
