Name the Alternate Universe!

Since it was created with the help of Red Matter, how about the Redverse / Red-Universe?

I've heard several people on these forums refer to the new alternate universe as "NuTrek", I like this a lot. Personally, I refer to the main reality as "ClassicTrek".

In honor of Kirk's favorite snack as well as the overall design aesthetics, I'd vote for calling it the Appleverse. And if we rename the prime timeline the Orangeverse, It would give a pretty clear impression of what you'd be up against when comparing the two.

Actually, why would we need 2 different names?

The new main universe is Star Trek, and the old alternate universe is Star Trek. They're both Star Trek. Just a different Star Trek. So why can't we call them both Star Trek? You'll find out soon enough if someone's talking about the old alternate universe or the new main one. :D

Abramsverse or JJVerse works for me: because we can keep using that system for the next guy after JJ and so on to who is given the reins. Also its easier to keep track of sources if we make the universes eponymous. (although i do like prime, alpha, beta etc because it sounds mathematical, still i think i'd like it to be named after the discoverer)

I also like Alphaverse and Betaverse. Also, I can't seem to find a word anywhere in the English language that would best describe something that serves secondary to something being referred to as prime. Like what's the opposite of the word prime?

What makes you think this universe serves secondary to the old one? I rather believe the old one now serves secondary to this one, since there will be no more movies or series set in the old universe.

I only used secondary in the context of my question. If the old universe is being called prime, what would be a good equivalent that avoided the whole secondary, tertiary progression, as I admit it does sound a bit derogatory.
And to answer the question you thought I begged, if I were to apply the term secondary, it sure wouldn't be to the one that came first.

There's something about "NuTrek" I don't like, but I have to admit that it's a good one.

It's universally easily recognized. Anyone who's never heard the term but stepped into the middle of a Trek vs. NuTrek conversation would immediately know which timeline everyone was talking about.

It's flexible. In timeline-specific conversations, you could prefix any word with "nu" for clarity's sake. NuPicard, nuRomulus, etc.

It's efficient. It's only 2 letters. You could abbreviate longer words, but then you lose some of that universal easy recognition.

I'm not a big fan of Nu, It's just too well associated with BSG. And I think they got it from a carpet cleaning product or something.

Then why isn't the Mirror Universe not called the Mirror Timeline? :p

Well, I suppose they're all interchangeable. *Shrugs* A universe by any other name would just be as infinite.

On a side note, I would prefer Abramverse to nuTrek. "nu" almost has a "nude" connotation, i.e., nude Trek instead of New Trek. I am not, however, opposed to the idea of seeing a nude Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Chekov, or Sulu in future installments.

To be honest, I like the phrase Neroverse. It sounds...exotic, yet I know what it means and it's somewhat logical.

I hate the term NuTrek... Makes it sound like something TRYING to be hip, and aside from using the Beastie Boys as a soundtrack, I think JJ's Trek was modernistic at times (lens flares anyone?), but very classy as well. The term Nu makes me think of the whole NuMetal-wave of the late '90's/early '00's... And NuMetal was critically bashed into freaking hell I guess... NuBSG is a REAL reboot, while JJ's Trek still very much has a place within the established universe of Trek.

I think Prime and Beta serve up far better terms.

I would love to see this universe ultimately ending up to be the Mirror Universe. I mean, that would be a great plot twist (and would keep all canon afficionados happy at the same time :P) and I for one would love to see how things get screwed up in that universe.
