Name That Trek

Not that I'm disappointed that the interest in this exercise has continued unabated(far from it), but as of late, its been like a high level table tennis match between just a couple of players.

Given my lack of background, I can't say if the recent extreme speed (ease) demonstrated is due to the players' superlative knowledge, or less than challenging clues. I like to be inventive, though not always successfully. Perhaps we can find some ways to vary things up a bit so that there is a greater likelihood of longer and more inclusive volleys.

Anyway, with that in mind, and hoping this one doesn't prove to be a piece of cake, here we go.

"Orders? From whom?" "The Captain".

Yes, I've been thinking the same, it's fun and all and while I can't say I've known the answer to every clue, I've known far more than I haven't, and I've been trying to take a back seat every few answers so as not to outstay my welcome.

I've been trying to pick quotes that are distinctive enough to be identifiable without being overly easy, yet they still seem to be guessed within minutes of posting them. That's either saying that the regular posters in this thread have an exceptionally good knowledge of Star Trek quotes, or the lines are just too easy to place. (or - and I'm not accusing anyone - a little extra curricular googling is happening, which if anybody is, surely takes the fun out of it?)

I've tried a few picture clues, but they seemed to be just as easily guessed too.

The one that seemed to run the longest was Nightdiamond's more cryptic clue with only a fairly vague description which was left wide enough for interpretation that people came up with lots of guesses that fit the bill and I found good fun trying to wrack my brain to think of scenes that I thought matched up.

Maybe it's time to tweak the rules a little, to make it more challenging? (Or just come up with harder clues?)

I don't think Googling is ever needed with this bunch. Uncanny talent assembled here, believe it.

Clues like Drone's latest are great - just when you think you've got it solved, it hits back with more lives than Wang's Second Postulate.

I also do not use Google, I will admit to looking at TrekCores episode guide on occasion to try and narrow things down in my mind, but that only goes so far as to look at the episode titles to eliminate ones I know it can't be.

Games like this can be tricky, there's a lot of scholar level Trek talent on this board. When I used to run the screencap game, it was tough to balance it. Trying to keep it accessible without making it too easy for those who could pick out what anomaly the graphic in the background indicated with and making it too hard for the casual player.

As for the current quote, I'm going to guess Enterprise, "Twilight" and Archer is talking to the security guard whose job is keeping him in his quarters.

Thanks for the kudo!!! I was concerned that my comment a few posts back would be taken as a dig by one our esteemed contributors. I'm thankful that it wasn't. :techman:

Sir, you've just proven the reality of your characterization of the level of extreme expertise around these parts. Your use of the word guess, was no false modesty, but simply an indication that you belong to that talented retinue you described. I seriously thought there would be enough ambiguity in the clue, that just getting to the correct iteration (film or show) would be a reasonable challenge.

However, the honor is yours to have so assuredly nailed the sucker!!! Proceed when ready, and at least stating my desire, please make us suffer!!!!

Ah, I had a feeling it wasn't Kirk. That narrowed things down a bit.

Next clue, a screenshot:
