Name That Star Trek Object

I think a rule is that the object has to seen on screen, but clever.

5th Clue: Kirk is never seen with one, but I assume that Spock has seen one on the ship.

5th Clue (supplemental): Spock has seen one in person. Kirk and a few others have seen one, but only remotely.

Summary:
1st Clue: This object does get smaller with technical advancement.
2nd Clue: The object is seen to collect other objects.
3rd Clue: Appears to be barely more advanced than its 1960's counterpart. Maybe the technical advancements are in the inside.
4th Clue: We never see the object used as it was designed to be used.
5th Clue: Kirk is never seen with one, but I assume that Spock has seen one on the ship.
5th Clue (supplemental): Spock has seen one in person. Kirk and a few others have seen one, but only remotely.

This should clinch it:
6th Clue: The Captain is seen with one.

Pike's TV?

Clue Explanation:
1) Viewers/Monitors are smaller in the rest of TOS
2) Collects things on top like hat and laser pistol
3) Looks like 60's TV because...it is!
4) Never seen it turned on and watched
5) Kirk isn't seen with one but Spock probably saw the one in Pike's quarters
6) The Captain is seen with one....Captain Pike

@MarsWeeps got it. It's Pike's vintage 1960's TV Console.
1. It is quite large in Pike's era, taking up the entire center of his quarters. The view screen in Kirk's quarters is a smaller desk top model.
2. It collects Pike's loose junk like his cap and laser pistol. What's he got a open weapon in his cabin for? Insubordinate yeomen? :guffaw:
3. Looks like a 1960's TV to me complete with woodgrain veneer. Sharp. :techman:
4. Never turned on. I wonder if he watched re-runs of The Andy Griffith Show while off duty.
5. Again, Kirk's viewer in his quarters was desk top. Maybe Kirk still had it during WNMHGB, but this was never seen on screen. Spock served with Pike for 11 odd years, so, I assume he saw it in person while on the ship.
5. (supplemental) Kirk and a few others viewed it during the historic playback in The Menagerie.
6. As shown in the photo, Captain Pike is seen with it in his quarters.

Is it that crescent wrench that Lt. Commander Ben Finney conveniently finds in a corner of Engineering during his climactic fight with Kirk in Court Martial?

How about the pipe wrench that Kirk beats Khan with? It wasn't always around.

While I'm not sure it's a pipe wrench, it is some type of object that Kirk pulls out of the engineering console that I believe showed up just for this episode. Good job, I obviously need to make my clues more difficult! :)3849F12B-159D-4464-A78C-2C4F3DA52029.jpeg

One of my favorite fights in Star Trek, so, I had to go for it. And wow, was that the only time it was there? Talk about providential!! Thanks, MarsWeeps.

The Controller from Spock's Brain?
1. Spock's brain is re-circulating air, running heating plants, purifying water; i.e. very refreshing.

1. Refreshingly alien in design.

Objection. Assumes disembodiment not in evidence.
