Name That Star Trek Object

I think that was Galileo 7, where Scott used gloves and a wrench to electrify the shuttlecraft’s hull.

Forgot about that one. I was thinking of the episode where he was in a Jeffries tube and was inserting it into some type of electrical field to prevent the Enterprise from blowing up.

Anti-gravs? Used to take care of Nomad, or used in "Obsession"
@MarsWeeps wins this one, or is it two. Each anti-grav has two handles and allows one to move heavy loads with ease with its hand grips. With Nomad, two anti-gravs were used to "handle" the self-destructing Nomad. In Obsession, only one anti-gav was used to handle the antimatter bomb. Both very dangerous situations.

Woohoo! It's been awhile since I guessed correctly, although this is first time in this thread. Let me think of a good one..

Clue 1:
We see this used at various times throughout the series, although we aren't sure of its exact function and can only guess at what it does.

An Anti-grav was also used to transport Ambassador Kollos (was going to be one of my future objects if I guessed correctly)

Is it the spinny thing on the bridge, near Spock's console?

Good guess, but not what I was thinking of.

Clue 1:
We see this used at various times throughout the series, although we aren't sure of its exact function and can only guess at what it does.

Clue 2:
One reason we are confused about its function is because we see it in identical situations throughout the series, sometimes it is used, sometimes it is ignored.

Ray-Generation device?

Not that one either.

Clue 1:
We see this used at various times throughout the series, although we aren't sure of its exact function and can only guess at what it does.

Clue 2:
One reason we are confused about its function is because we see it in identical situations throughout the series, sometimes it is used, sometimes it is ignored.

Clue 3:
Another twist added to the clues: While this object is not exactly portable, it is seen at various locations throughout the series.

I have a guess but it is easier I include a pic. How do I insert a pic, or can I embed an off-site link?

I know premium members can upload pics and it's what I do. I don't think you are allowed to hot link pics from another site but can use a photo sharing site if you have an account there. I used to use photobucket before they changed their policies.

Is it the tall square light-up thing that is in the science lab, and also in the android lab in I, Mudd?

No, that's not it either.

We see this used at various times throughout the series, although we aren't sure of its exact function and can only guess at what it does.

Clue 3:
Another twist added to the clues: While this object is not exactly portable, it is seen at various locations throughout the series.

Clue 4 (This should give it away):
I'll just add on a bit to Clue 3. While this object is not exactly portable, it is seen at various locations throughout the series...or more specifically, throughout the ship.

No buzzers and no wall clusters.

Clue 5:
To clarify Clue 1, while we sort of know what it does, we have to wonder why sometimes it's used and sometimes it's not. There's one specific episode where it's used in what could be considered an emergency situation.
