Name That Star Trek Object

It's amazing how people come up with such good answers for the clues, but neither transmuter nor mirror nor pen nor club nor temple is what I had in mind. Let's see if this clue breaks it open...

Clue 4: We see this item used to do harm. We also see this item used to help heal.

probably the answer/winner above, but how about remote to activate the belt device for giving pain or delight (Spock's Brain)

Not the Vians' weapon nor the giver of pain and delight.

Clue 5: As important as this item was to its owner, ultimately it was used to bring about its owner's undoing.

In case a clue summary might be helpful to anyone else:

Clue 1: It's obvious by looking at this object what it's purpose is.
Clue #2: It's versatile. We see it put to a number of uses.
Clue #3: This object seems important to its owner. It is always prominent when its owner is on camera even when not being used.
Clue 4: We see this item used to do harm. We also see this item used to help heal.
Clue 5: As important as this item was to its owner, ultimately it was used to bring about its owner's undoing.

McCoy's Antique Scalpel?
1. It's obvious that it is a medical scalpel.
2. Can be used in a number of different operations.
3. McCoy keeps it on display on the wall in his medical equipment collection.
4. Khan uses it to threaten McCoy. It is more often used to heal people.
5. McCoy is undone by Khan who holds it to his throat.

Since Henoch got it from the get-go, I'll try a guess heard along the wisp of a wind (hurricane):

It's Gary Seven's magic pen.

1. can do anything to keep the plot moving forward
2. can do anything to keep the plot moving forward
3. Robert Lansing did sure love to mug that camera with breast pocket visible, no?
4. can do anything to keep the plot moving forward
5. can do anything to keep the plot moving forward

Thanks.

Not the pen, not the dress, not the scalpel, not the microphone.

Clue 6: The item's owner is a woman.

Well I saw that screen clip and ball and didn't think it fit the clues! Probably the Spock clue threw me off! Here is something related, a photoshop I made maybe 10-15 years ago for a website long offline now called YCDTOST (You Cant Do That On Star Trek)

I did a bunch of those for a caption contest here:

SPOCK: Most illogical. There is a small thermal exhaust port right below the main port.

Nona's Knife?

YES!!!!!! Henoch, you evil ball of fun, you have the conn. Your guess is impressive too because I realized I misinterpreted her death scene and I was going to alter a couple of my previous clues if no one got it today. Well done.

Oh, I should explain the clues...

Clue 1:It's obvious by looking at this object what it's purpose is. It's a dagger. It stabs and cuts things.
Clue #2: It's versatile. We see it put to a number of uses. Nona harvests the herb she intoxicates Tyree with with it, it is used to cut her palm during the healing of Kirk ceremony, she pulls her dagger to defend herself against the Village People.
Clue #3: This object seems important to its owner. It is always prominent when its owner is on camera even when not being used. As above, she puts it to a number of important uses. Also, even when she's not using it, it's so big and prominent on her belt. Your eye is just drawn to it. And she tends to walk and stand with her hand on its handle. It never seems to be far from her mind. A symbol of her status?
Clue 4: We see this item used to do harm. We also see this item used to help heal. I messed this clue up a bit and was going to change it if Henoch hadn't got it. I thought Nona was killed with her own dagger, but in rewatching the scene, I now think the Village Person killed her with his own knife. And again, her dagger is used in the ceremony to heal Kirk.
Clue 5: As important as this item was to its owner, ultimately it was used to bring about its owner's undoing. Again, I thought she was killed by her own knife. A better clue would have been "it failed to prevent her undoing" as she pulled it to defend herself, but it didn't help.
Clue 6: The item's owner is a woman. Yep, it's Nona's.

Would you believe....

Elaan’s knife
So I want to comment on this guess. At this point I had only given the first clue, that you can tell what the item does by looking at it, not expecting anyone to get it yet. The fact that you picked Elaan's dagger when I was thinking Nona's dagger was a pretty amazing guess at this point. I was thinking of responding in a way to let you know you were close, but I was afraid everyone would start guessing daggers and guess Nona's shortly thereafter. Or I was afraid it would make people think it had something to with Elaan or that episode and mislead people, so in the end I just responded with a "no". But good guess on your part at this point. If you'd said Nona instead of Elaan you'd have had it right away.

I was going to guess Scotty's spanner wrench but can't remember the episode(s) it was in...or the gloves he was wearing (was trying to remember episode to see if he actually wore gloves).
