this very specific in calculations object that Spock used (cant remember when?)
Nice guess, I think Spock uses it in Who Mourns for Adonais? and possibly That Which Survives? I would have to check.
Clue # 2
This object appears, at first, near a very 20th century-looking appliance.
The Malcotian space buoy warning off the Enterprise in Spectre of the Gun?
Coffee Pot in The City on the edge of Forever.
Alas no to both guesses I'm afraid.
Clue # 3
Many of another version appear throughout the series.
Clue # 4
Only a guest star holds this particular one.
Clue # 5
Others catch the end of the moment, however.
The portable table top computer used in "The Cage"?
Clue # 6
I hold something different to what my counterparts do during the remainder of the series.
Alas no! New clue above.
The Cage Communicator?
1. Though seen in both The Cage and The Menagerie, it's the same scene and only used in the first pilot filming.
2. First appeared near Pike's TV console.
3. New and improved for the second pilot and regular series.
4. ? Maybe Jeffery Hunter is the guest star for The Menagerie.
6. A clear transparent case, or maybe the transistors, or the flip screen locking pin...
Nice guess but alas no.
Clue # 7
Something the object does, amuses our guest star.
Clue # 8
The object's specific, (not general), location is only seen in this episode. The rest of the series, the object's counterparts are only seen elsewhere on the ship.
Trelane's mirror in The Squire of Gothos?
Alas no mirrors are smashed on this occasion.
Another clue tomorrow.
Clue # 9
In the real world, perhaps it was too costly to replicate my design throughout the series.
MCCOY: A veritable zoo of bacteria. Beam down a biocomputer and a portable electronic microscope. If I'm dealing with viruses, I'll need better equipment than I have here.
I have an object in mind that more than fits every clue perfectly except for clue 4. @Methuselah Flint is that clue completely accurate?
Not the biocomputer, and yes this particular object is only held by the guest star of the week.
Another clue later.
